Chanel Robertson Boulevard Nail Colour Collection
When I was in LA last month, I desperately wanted to stop by the new Chanel boutique on Robertson Boulevard but time wasn’t on my side. The reason for my desperation… the Robertson Boulevard limited edition Nail Colour Collection. Sold exclusively at the Robertson boutique from now until the online launch in July, this collection was created by Peter Philips, the new Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup.
Based on the bold pop art imagery, I wasn’t expecting the slight softness I saw in the shades I tested. It’s this quality that makes them very wearable, even for Chanel’s more conservative clientele. As expected, the lacquers applied flawlessly and with excellent pigmentation, I barely needed two coats to reach bottle color. At $25 a bottle, they better.
Rodeo Drive is a warm grapey purple with subtle silver shimmer. In the sun it reminds me of the cartoon character Grape Ape. Of all the polishes in this collection, Rodeo Drive was the one I most looked forward to seeing so I’m glad it lived up to my expectations.
L.A. Sunset is a creamy melon orange with a high gloss factor. I wouldn’t classify it as a bright per se but it’s definitely bold and summery. A perfect pedicure shade.
With the popularity of yellow polish this season it’s no surprise to see one included in this collection. However, I was surprised at how sweet and sexy L.A. Sunrise looked on Selma Blair’s tips in InStyle‘s June edition. No mustard or neon here, just a gorgeous lemon sorbet. I plan to order it the day of the online release.
Melrose, L.A. Sunrise, L.A. Sunset and Rodeo Drive will be available for purchase exclusively on Chanel.com in July. You can sign up on the CHANEL site to be notified of their release.
I just can not justify $25.00 for one bottle of polish!
Thank you for these swatches! I was waiting on someone to show me that purple shade and i’m salivating. I signed up to be notified of the release. I might just have to get that shade…even if it is $25. Yikes!
Loving LA Sunset. Gorgeous. : )
Rodeo Drive and LA Sunrise are gorgeous. Dang it!
Awesome swatches!
Just a question – how is Rodeo Drive different from Lilac Sky, also Chanel? It’s one of my fave nail polish colours, but from your pictures they seem really similar.
I love LA Sunset! The yellow one’s pretty too. I do love the colours from Chanel, but I find they tend to chip faster than other brands, which is really annoying!
These look different than I had hoped. Especially the purple. Luckily for my wallet, none of them are unique enough to buy (because if they were, you’d better believe I would order it).
Thanks for posting. Love your blog!
Gorgeous colours, Chanel has certainly hit the nail on the head with this one.
Selma Blair looks incredible in that picture, it’s enough to make me consider yellow nailpolish!
$25 a bottle???
no way.
i love these color but for $25 a bottle i won’t be slpurging on any of them.
The purple is tempting. I am still on the fence though.
urghhh. I probably won’t end up getting these, but I would like LA sunrise & Rodeo Drive.
You have a thing for green polish, I have a thing for purple polish
The purple definitely has my name on it. $25 is so much … but I really think it will be worth it. It’s sure to be a collector’s item!
hi! wow.. the chanel nailpolish has awesome colors.. love it!
take care,
kyutie
Love the colours. Love creams. But I love mountain biking more, so polish that chips too fast is not practical and not worth it when paying Canadian $.
I’ll be online when this comes out, for sure. Even if it’s going to be like $40-$50 after shipping and currency conversion. Ugh.
Rodeo Drive is such pretty shade of purple! Too bad it’s so expensive though.
Those are so pretty, but… I don’t think I can drop $25 on a bottle of polish right now. The problem is that I would want all but the pink… and that’s a lot of money!!
I’m usually not drawn to yellow, but I think this would be delightful on the toots.
To those of you that scowl at the $25 price tag, I don’t blame you. It is a hefty price. But I can’t hate on the people that do buy it. If you can afford it and want to splurge, have at it.
Milan – I never thought I’d spend $25 on a polish but LA Sunrise will be mine!
20something – I don’t have Lilac Sky so I can’t compare, sorry. Try asking on MakeupAlley.com. There are some Chanel fanatics on the nail board.
hey i adore your blog can you reccomend a similar colour to l.a sunset as its a bit steep for a teen budget lol!i love the orange coral but cremeness about it
20something – there was a comparison picture on MUA and they are nothing alike. The closest I have found is OPI Do you lilac it? with CQ silver violet on top.
Cincy – lovely photos as always! That picture does make me want LA Sunrise.
