Beauty Undercover Interviews ALU
“Michelle Mismas in the Imelda Marcos of nail polish.”
I’ve honestly never thought of myself that way but it’s the funny and flattering description Susan Campos of Beauty Undercover chose for her article… The Varnished Truth. It’s a quick and entertaining read and I hope you’ll check it out.
Thanks Susan for wanting to feature me!
What a great article! I love the idea of polish as an accessory…I never thought of it that way before. BTW what shimmering nude would you recommend for someone with a light-medium skintone? Just curious…I have a hard time finding good nude shades.
That’s such a hard thing to recommend. Without seeing the person’s skintone in person, I hate recommending nudes or “mannequin hands” colors. You really need to look at the undertone in your hands. Like my face has a lot of red in it but my hands are yellow based so I look for nudes with a more yellowish color.
Super cute article!! Nail polish is much cheaper than purses! I always tell that to people I want to be a polish namer as well, either that or a crayon namer.
Wouldn’t naming polishes be fun? Like a dream job! Or just naming makeup in general. Does Suzi need an assistant namer at OPI?
Congratulations Once More Michelle:
The article by Susan in “Beauty Uncover” was great! Amazing success, 1500 nail varnishes in only one part of the house? Wow! I just knew you would be a winner after reading your first post and then having the courage to make a comment, love your web blog.
You make it so easy to be a big fan of your blog, you write brilliantly, the swatches are incredible and your nails are so beautiful and gorgeous it just makes my entire day seem better and better. Thank you.
To Michelle’s Success!

Thanks George!! You’re so sweet to me
I love that you’re getting some well-deserved attention!
However, there is nothing complimentary about being compared to Imelda Marcos, if for no other reason than the woman’s name is practically synonymous with excess, narcissism, corruption, and greed.
I’m sure the author meant well and only wanted to draw the parallel between your polish collection and Imelda’s infamous shoes. Again, I just think you deserve better.
I get what you mean and I don’t think she meant the comparison in an unflattering way. I can’t think of anyone else who’s famous for having a large collection of anything. That always seems to be the first name to come up.
Eeradicator is totally correct. Your being compared to Imelda Marcos made my jaw drop and not in a good way. Your polishes have been paid for either directly or indirectly by the hard work you put in on this blog (just because you enjoy it doesn’t mean it’s not serious effort expended), not something you stole from someone else. The author should have done a much better job on her research.
