Dermelect ME “Fearless Beauty” Nail Polish by Fear No Beauty
Fear No Beauty‘s Karie Frost is one of my fave backstage buddies at NYFW. As the Beauty Director for Nail It! magazine and NAILPRO, she’s an industry vet yet she never puts on airs. She’s just a chill, sweet chick with a bold eye for color and beauty. All the amazing nail looks on the Nailpro and Nail It! covers? Karie dreamt up the concepts.
It’s no wonder that my pal, Celebrity Manicurist and Dermelect Creative Director, Elle, wanted to collaborate with Karie for the Dermelect ME Summer 2013 nail polish collection, appropriately named Fearless Beauty. Karie’s no holds barred approach to beauty empowers women to take a chance with their look.
“I see hundreds of new nail products cross my desk each year, and Dermelect really caught my eye,” says Frost, who not only founded beauty blog FearNoBeauty.com, but has also worked for 12+ years on top nail industry magazine Nailpro and new consumer nail magazine Nail It!. “The science behind the nail treatments, and now the new ME lacquer colors, truly deliver stronger, longer nails—the perfect canvas for brilliant manicures. I wanted to bring brave new colors to the brand’s ME lacquers—colors that will not only inspire women to take fun, fearless shade risks with their nails, but also feel confident while doing so.”
Formula & Application: Dermelect ME nail polish is 5-Free and is the first peptide-infused nail color. It includes UV protection to prevent fading and discoloration. The square glass bottles with their brushed metal caps remind me of the RBL bottles. The brush is short, round and medium in width with flexible bristles that fan out easily on the nail without causing any dragging.
The consistency of the four cremes remind me of Essie in that they’re squishy and easy to manipulate. The pigmentation and coverage is adequate (two coats) with only the yellow requiring three coats. Being that most yellows are either chalky and thick or sheer and thin, this one falls nicely in the middle. It’s a bit streaky, which is typical, and the reason behind the three coats.
Dermelect Fearless is a cerulean blue creme. If you’ve been paying attention, you know that I’m all over the bright blues this season so Fearless struck a chord with me. It’s a bit muted while retaining its vibrancy. The closest I could come to finding a match is an old Piggy Polish shade, Skip To My Blue. CND Anchor Blue is similar but a bit brighter, not as smoky.
Dermelect Buzz-Worthy is a lemon, almost neon yellow creme. It’s hard to capture its brightness on camera so have your sunglasses handy when donning this shade. Think of it as a brighter, more pigmented version of Sephora by OPI IM Beauty.
Dermelect Moxie is a bold, bubblegum pink creme. Shades like this can easily fall into the chalky trap and thankfully Moxie did not go down that road. It’s rich, creamy and feminine with a bit of sass. I found it to be a slightly darker cousin of China Glaze Dance Baby. They’re probably close enough to not need both.
Dermelect Renegade is a muted jade creme. Taking the edge off green, by slightly greying it, makes it more approachable. Amazingly enough I don’t have an exact match for this shade in my vast collection though MAC Salad Dressing from the Shop MAC, Cook MAC collection comes close. It’s just a hair darker and nowhere near as pigmented as Renegade.
I showed you my fishtail braid nail art using the Fearless Beauty shades on a recent #ManiMonday but, just in case you missed it, here it is again. For those of you who water marble, they would make for an excellent mix.
Bottom Line: I feel like it would be unfair for me judge the colors since they were created by friends. Obviously, I love them but I’m biased which is why I just described the actual color without too much personal input. The shades are very Karie and if you love them, you’ll love her blog just as much. I’ll just say that the quality of the nail polish is excellent and if you suffer from dry, brittle nails, the benefits of the formula make them worth looking into.
The Dermelect ME Fearless Beauty nail polish collection is available now at Dermelect.com. Dermelect ME nail polish retails for $14/ea for a .4oz bottle.

This looks so nice! All of the colors have me swooning…
I’m not a big fan of pink nail polish but this pink looks like a fun color to wear for the summer. The other colors are pretty too.
These are gorgeous shades!
Such pretty shades…great swatches!
I adore ‘Renegade’ O: I may have to order that come payday haha.
I am all over these and have dry, brittle nails so I definitely need them. Thank you so much for sharing them and I’m glad you’re friends with her!
I hope they help your nails. Definitely get the Launchpad base if you’re ordering. Fantastic!
