The China Glaze App – Now for Android!
Over the past couple years, I’ve been pitched numerous times about new mobile apps for nail polish fanatics and they have always been solely for iPhone/iPad users. Since I don’t recommend anything I can’t personally test myself, I haven’t posted about them, until now.
China Glaze launched their China Glaze App last spring and now us #TeamAndroid peeps can get in on the action.
What’s unique about this free app is the “Match A Color” functionality. You simply take a picture of an object, click on a spot you want to color match, and get a list of China Glaze nail polish suggestions.
I took a picture of the Bobbi Brown Navy nail polish I posted earlier today and Man Hunt and First Mate are great alternatives, though not dupes. Lighting definitely alters the suggestions you get.
The app also features the latest collection releases, videos and a “Try It On” feature that is, honestly, not that accurate as all the shades look like cremes. You can also “favorite” shades and share your finds on social media.
The China Glaze App is available now for free in the Google Play store and iTunes.
Have you tried the app? Do you have a fave app geared toward nail polish fans?
Oh dear. I can see hours of life wasted finding nail polish colours to match random objects! Fun though! Emma&Jo.x
I use iNails to track what I have and to easily figure out possible dupes for polishes. It’s updated often with new polishes.
I also use Nailbook which allows me to quickly flip through all my nail polish when I’m out shopping. That one requires you to add your own names, photos etc. It’s a basic database.
Thanks for sharing. Neither of those are available on Android.
I’ve just downloaded and it’s really nice! thank you for the information!I love your blog!
You’re so welcome!
Gotta try this app!
That seems fun! Finally something for android!
By the way, I have a question. Is it just me, or it happens to everyone, that most of the neon purple/magenta polishes lose their purple pigment and change to something rosy or cherry-like after a year or two, sometimes even earlier? Like my Essie Perky Purple, China Glaze Purple Panic and Color Club Mrs Robinson. All ruined. The only okay one for me now is Essie Bermuda shorts.
Is it because the way I store them? I suppose most people put polishes in a drawer like I do. Is there any way to prevent that?
The pigments can break down over time. I’ve seen this happen with some older polishes. Where they’ll separate or change color. The best way you can store your polish is to keep it in a cool, dark place with no extreme temperature changes. Keeping polish exposed to light will break down the pigments.
