FingerPaints Fall 2014 Masquerade Affair Swatches & Review
I don’t know about you guys but I’m saying, “Bye Felicia!” to Radiant Orchid, as amazing blues have dominated 2014 way more than the “Pantone Color of the Year.” And, as we move into fall, I’m transitioning from cobalt to indigo, sapphire and navy.
When my eyes clamped on the FingerPaints Fall 2014 Masquerade Affair collection, I couldn’t resist putting these rich jewel tones on my digits. I mean, emerald, amethyst, gold and sapphire. What’s not to love?
Formula & Application
FingerPaints nail polish is 5-Free (Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP, Formaldehyde Resin, Camphor) and produced exclusively for Sally Beauty. The FingerPaints bottle is unique in that it’s kind of an oblong shape with a long, slender, slightly taped cap.
FingerPaints recently revamped their polish line, including the brush. The bottle now contains a long, flat, wide brush with flexible bristles that easily fans out without putting too much pressure on the nail.
All the polishes in this collection are well pigmented, giving full coverage in two coats. The consistency is a little on the thicker side but it self levels and dries with a smooth, glossy finish.
FingerPaints Ball Gown Glamour is an emerald green shimmer peppered with golden metallic flecks.
FingerPaints Dance Til Dawn is a red grape shimmer with golden flecks that flash a bit bronze-y.
FingerPaints Masked Beauty is a champagne foil metallic mixed with warmer golden flecks.
FingerPaints Queen For A Night is a deep sapphire blue packed with shade shifting metallic flecks. Depending on the angle, they can look gold, bronze or green. While the bottle shows a duo-chrome effect, it’s pretty weak on the nail. Note: This one can stain your skin so apply cuticle oil before removing.
Bottom Line: If you’ve been reading this blog for any amount of time, you know that my favorite nail colors are green, purple and blue, in that order, so it’s like this collection was made for me. The smooth shimmer and gold flecks just draw me in. And I’m always down for a foil metallic so Masquerade Affair is a slam dunk in my book. If I had to pick one, Queen For A Night gets my vote as the flecks show up the most in that color.
The FingerPaints Masquerade Affair collection is available in September 2014 at Sally Beauty stores nationwide and online at SallyBeauty.com. FingerPaints nail polish retails for $5.49/ea for a .5oz bottle.
Are you loving Masquerade Affair as much as I am? Which polish is your favorite? What one color do you think will dominate fall?

Loving that gold so much!
These are pretty colors for fall.
Love these!
These are all gorgeous!
wow these are really pretty. That champagne foil looks great to me !
I would submit that Dance Til Dawn (right? the purple one?) is red-violet and therefore in the orchid ballpark, actually. I’m not arguing with you about the blues though, I have seen lots of fabulous blues this year. I have seen an unusual number of orchids as well, though.
I love the dance till dawn and then the queen of the night.
Love them all! I can’t decide if I like the blue or purple the best! I think blue will continue to dominate! I know I have been drawn to all of the gorgeous blues! xx
This set makes me long for Mardi Gras. I think that if I get only ONE from this set, it will be Masked Beauty. That color is speaking to me! lol
“Dance Til Dawn” and “Ball Gown Glamour” are beautiful jewel tone colors. I like that “Dance til Dawn” has a bronze-y shimmer to it.
I actually like all 4.
I am rather in love with all of these so will be visiting every Sally in my area starting tomorrow. But…is it just me or are those Mardi Gras colors (granted, the blue would be purple, but still…)? More love.
Masked Beauty reminds me of Zoya Ziv. Over all it looks like a nice collection.
I love the green. I have to get all of these, even though I had declared that I have enough polish…What was I thinking????
I don’t even understand what that means. “Enough polish?!?” Does not compute.
All my local Sally Beauty had on September 2nd was an empty display–already sold out! I was crushed. So I have to live vicariously through you.
Wow, seriously?? That’s crazy
