MAC Keepsakes Plum Eyes Palette – Smoky Plum Eye Tutorial
It’s not secret that when it comes to eye makeup, I LIVE for a palette. And a peek inside my in-need-of-a-good-purge makeup collection will reveal that MAC palettes make up the majority of my stash. Especially the holiday ones. I probably have eight or more of them.
So when the Makeup Wars gang decided to create a holiday makeup look, I knew exactly what to reach for. The MAC Keepsakes Plum Eyes palette is so my style, with the majority of the colors leaning towards cool. It created a smoky eye that is perfect for holiday parties and I couldn’t resist coming up with a nail look to go with it. Check it!
Products Used
For this look I started with the MAC Keepsakes Plum Eyes Palette ($39.50, Nordstrom.com) and then built off it using warm violet and gold liners, MAC Macroviolet ($16, Nordstrom.com) and Uppity Fluidline (discontinued, similar).
I decided to go with a more neutral mouth using MAC Viva Glam V ($16, Nordstrom.com) and a pinky cheek using MAC Mineralize Blush in Sweet Sentiment ($30, Nordstrom.com). To make sure my brow game is on point, I rely on my trusty and quickly dwindling MAC Veluxe Brown Liner in Deep Dark Brunette ($20, Nordstrom.com). I finish it off with MAC False Lashes Mascara ($22, Nordstrom.com).
MAC brushes are my go-tos and I love the SE (Special Edition) brushes that come in different seasonal sets because they have the same size and quality of brush head as the regular brushes. Plus, they are a great deal and an easy way to round out your brush collection.
These are all the brushes I used for this look. MAC 168SE for blush, MAC 208 for eye liner, MAC 212SE to smoke the lower lash line, MAC 217SE for blending, MAC 219SE for the crease, MAC 239SE to pat on the dark shadows. The one non-MAC brush is the Crown Brush Medium Dome which I use to apply all-over lid color.
For my complexion, I started with MAC Prep + Prime CC in Illuminate ($30, Nordstrom.com) to bring some life back to my dull winter skin and then I turned to my fave MAC Mineralize Moisture Foundation ($35, Nordstrom.com). I wear NW20.
