Treat Yo’ Self – Splurge-Worthy Valentine’s Day Beauty Indulgences
Instead of making Valentine’s Day into some big deal, I prefer to think of it as a, “Treat Yo’ Self” moment, a la Parks and Recreation. I spoil myself with something I wouldn’t normally justify buying, instead of making the boyfriend run around looking for the perfect gift. Last year, I went a little overboard on chocolate-covered grapes and strawberries. Healthy eating be damned!
So, whether you are shopping for the beauty lover in your life or indulging in a treat for yourself, here are some items worth splurging on this V-Day.
Nails
When it comes to splurge-worthy nail polish, one name comes to mind; the Christian Louboutin nail polish, Rouge Louboutin ($50, Sephora.com). I’m not even that into red polish, yet the collectible bottle is on my wish list, especially after hearing that the quality lives up to the overly inflated price tag.
The color, quality and limited edition packaging of the Victoria Beckham for Nails Inc Duo ($45, Sephora.com) makes it a great treat. And the on-trend colors have already sold out once so make sure you don’t miss out.
Beauty
A girl can never have enough lip balm and, when it comes in unique packaging, it’s all the better. Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips ($2.29, Drugstore.com) is already adorable in its little cherry-colored tub. The subtle pink tint, delicate rose scent and nourishing protection makes my lips happy.
However, for Valentine’s Day, Vaseline created special jars encrusted with European crystals and a heart on the lid ($45, ShopKitson.com). It’s a great way to spoil yourself. You know everyone will notice when you pull out the bejeweled jar.
Now, I normally would consider a $30+ lipstick craziness, but the NARS Audacious Lipstick ($32, NARSCosmetics.com) is SO good. I have it in the bright red, Carmen, and pinky mauve, Anna. The gorgeous packaging, creamy feel and rich pigmentation make it a winner. And because I’m a child at heart, I love putting the magnetized cap on in the wrong direction, just to see it auto-flip back into place.
It’s no secret that palettes are my jam and neutrals are my go-to. Since I have all the UD Naked palettes, my next goal is to get the Too Faced Chocolate Bar ($49, Sephora.com) and eventually the Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar. The original leans more cool, so that’s first on my list. And I like that it’s a little more diverse than just browns and tans.
How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Or do you choose to embrace Leslie Knope’s Galentine’s Day to celebrate your female friends? Do you plan to “treat yo’ self” this year? I’m debating between the Louboutin polish and Chocolate Bar. Thoughts?
