It just figures that the one weekend I have no plans, it’s all gloomy outside. Makes me want to do nothing but cuddle up on the couch. Good thing IFC is running a marathon of Freaks & Geeks today. We did brave the rain long enough to catch The Other Guys last night and it was a lot funnier than I expected though I think Marky Mark’s angry cop made me laugh more than Will Ferrell as the odd man out.
On Friday I attended a tweetup at a neighborhood bar and met some cool new peeps. Turns out one of the girls became obsessed with butter LONDON Fash Pack after seeing Nonie Creme talk about it in a backstage video at the Fall Betsey Johnson show. And another went and bought a green nail polish at Sally’s after hearing me and another nail lover tweeting about it. Nail fanatics unite!
Looking for a some lazy Sunday reading? These are my faves of the week…
How has a pair of bright green Chucks like the ones DWJ posted on The Art of Accessories not made their way into my life before now? I see a Zappos order in my future.
I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am to see Kristen from Beauty Addict blogging again and it’s posts like this one that are the reason why.
After seeing this glam ruffled laundry bag on Amber’s blog ,Beauty Blogging Junkie, my sad, ripped, red bag from college may finally meet its maker.
BellaSugar completely demystified the fishtail braid which I always thought would be really complicated to create. So much easier than I expected.
I died a little bit inside when I spotted these glitter covered Miu Miu oxfords on Dina from eye4style. I doubt I could ever pull them off as well as Dina so I will just continue to covet hers.
Beth from Glamour’s Girls In The Beauty Department blog thinks the big nail color battle for fall will be purple vs blue. What say you?
Karen from Makeup and Beauty Blog is probably one of the most creative beauty bloggers on the scene. Her take on MAC’s Venomous Villains collection includes her usual quirky twist on beauty.
Local Cleveland blogger Ashley from Our Little Apartment hasn’t shampooed her hair in almost a month and even though I’m a hair product junkie I’m thinking of doing the same thing.

Seriously, where did this summer go? I can’t believe we’re already halfway through August. These past few weeks have been BUSY. I’ve been planning my trip to NYFW at the beginning of September. The boyfriend and I have been talking about buying a boat for next summer and scoping out marinas. And we’ve had something planned pretty much every weekend of the summer. I’m actually starting to look forward to Fall/Winter and not having as much on my social calendar. I’m not complaining mind you but I want a weekend to do nothing at all.
I’m so behind on my blog feed reader that I have over 1000+ posts to comb through though a big part of that is due to my celebrity blog obsession (Perez Hilton & Go Fug Yourself). I did manage to rake my way through some more recent updates and here are my faves of the week.
Disney & MAC fans will want to scurry on over to check out Temptalia’s coverage of the Venomous Villains collection including the special press trip she attended at Disney Land. FYI her site is loading a bit slow right now, undoubtedly due to major traffic overload. btw, is Orly & MAC in cahoots? Two of the three polishes are dupes.
Annie from BellaSugar tried CND Shellac. Check out her take on the product in a BellaTV video.
British Beauty Blogger raved about a nail treatment called Re:Fusion that has me extremely intrigued. Has anyone spotted this in the US?
After reading about it on Style.com’s Beauty Counter Blog, I am dying to get my hands on this USLU Airlines polish, ONE, inspired by the US Dollar.
I discovered a fantastic new site thanks to my pal Meredith from Retrodiva’s Beauty. It’s called Beauty and the Bullshit written by a former cosmetics industry insider. It’s rather new but the writer behind it is all about demystifying the claims cosmetics companies spew at us. Love it!
NYC gals head over the Lucky.com for an exclusive discount on services at Rescue Beauty Lounge. The discount is good from now through August 23rd.
Carla from Product Girl swatched the NYX 10-color Palettes and I’m thinking the neutral Runway Collection is perfect for travel.
MTV Style gave us a close-up look at Keri Hilson’s striped manicure and tips on how to recreate it. What do you think of the look?
And now for a little shameless self promotion…
Victoria from Makeup.com asked for my take on the multi-colored manicure. Are skittles nails only appropriate for tweens?
Also, my friend Sara from Bit By The Beauty Bug went out of her dark nail comfort zone to get a crackle pedicure and asked my input on the look.
I hope you all are having a fantastic weekend. I’m hoping the rainstorm that hit out west of Cleveland stays away until later tonight as we’re heading down to the The Feast of the Assumption in Little Italy. Just like everyone is Irish on St. Paddy’s Day, everyone in Cleveland is Italian during The Feast. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday Funday!

This past weekend was packed with fun for the boyfriend and I. He’s on his annual summer break from Friday Night Hockey so we trekked out to the drive-in to see The A-Team and Killers. Per usual, the wine we packed put me to sleep during the second movie so I only saw The A-Team in full and let me tell you, staring at Bradley Cooper for two hours doesn’t suck. Oh and the movie was alright as well.
We spent yesterday evening at the yacht club with my Dad for Father’s Day. The weather was absolutely beautiful and there were no mayflies to be seen. Anyone along the Lake Erie coast knows what a blessing that is in June. We’re gearing up for our annual group outing to Put-In-Bay this weekend so hearing that the mayflies have come and gone from the area is amazing news. By the by, why are they called “mayflies” when they don’t show up until June? Makes no sense.
So let me get a little shameless self promotion out of the way before hitting you with my fave reads of the week. Indulge me Fanatics.
I wrote a fun piece on nail trends for AOL Stylelist that I hope you’ll enjoy. Check out The 5 Biggest Nail Trends For Summer 2010.
Also, Victoria Kirby from Makeup.com interviewed me for her Behind The Blog series. FYI, the OPI polish I referenced is Rainforest, not Greenforest. I talk REALLY fast so I’m sure it was quite a task for her to keep up with my babbling.
Now for my beauty blog must-reads for the week:
Christine from 15 Minute Beauty Fanatic agrees that MAC’s new Highlight Powder is just too pretty to use.

Did you have a nice weekend? Who else is planning to watch the MTV Movie Awards tonight? The awards themselves are lame sauce but I get a kick out of seeing what the celebs are wearing plus I think Aziz Ansari is going to kill it as host. He seriously kept me watching Parks & Recreation last spring. I almost gave up on it and that would have been a huge mistake!
As for me, I took myself on a date Friday night while the BF was playing hockey. I went to see Sex & The City 2 and I don’t get all the criticism. It was an entertaining romp, just as SJP described. Fun and frothy, the perfect summer movie snack. And did you see Samantha’s nails??? It’s total nail art porn!
Ready for your weekend reading list courtesy of yours truly? Check these out, there will be a quiz later.
Laser hair removal at home? Christine from 15 Minute Beauty Fanatic explains how it works and whether the Silk’n Sens Epil worked for her!

BellaSugar takes the new Chic Prints from Sephora by OPI and Minx for a test drive. See how they fared.

Polish Hoarder Disorder challenged their readers to submit their “bling” nails and while I’m not a fan of the Konad craze even I have to give props to this design. It’s stunning!

It’s a glorious day in the CLE and the BF and I are gearing up for tonight’s LOST finale. Can you believe it’s finally coming to an end? I swear, if they leave me with even more questions after tonight, I’m not responsible for my actions. You have no idea!!
Anyway, I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I went to see Iron Man 2 and it’s one of the few sequels that actually lived up to the original. Totally worth seeing. Plus, RDJ is so charming you can’t help but want to spend 2+ hours in a dark theater staring at him.
If you’re in need of some fun beauty related reading during your lazy Sunday, check out my faves from this past week.
The NAILS Magazine Editor’s Blog has the scoop on a new nails related world record set in London last week.
Glamour’s Girls In The Beauty Department are wondering why wackadoo singer Ke$ha painted one of her fingers (finger not nail) gold. What’s your theory?
OPI has finally joined the social media revolution with Twitter and Facebook accounts. Follow them for product updates and giveaways like their current Shrek-Tacular Contest.
A reader recently emailed asking how to spot a fake OPI. Then literally two days later, Michèle from Lacquerized posts an extremely comprehensive guide.
MAC is partnering with Disney to launch the Venomous Villains collection based on their most dastardly evildoers. Can you spot the famous animated faces in this teaser?
If you’re as excited for the Sex and the City 2 release as I am then head on over to BellaSugar and take their SATC Beauty Quiz. I’m a sucker for quizzes and theirs are always a good challenge.
This is totally non-beauty related but the bartender at one of our fave beer & wine spots showed us Sleep Talkin’ Man and I’ve been a regular reader ever since. The stuff this guy says in his sleep (his wife transcribes) is hilarious and usually NSFW so be warned.
