Fanatics, today I have a special edition of CND Monday for you featuring Sweet and Sugar Sparkle; “The Look” for Spring 2010. A few months ago I talked about CND’s new concept for releasing seasonal colors (check out CND Colour & Effects… What’s Next? for a refresher) and how each Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter they’ll release a new LE Colour and Effect to reflect the trends. Mannequin Hands with CND Putty
Mannequin Hands is a new series featuring ALU Fanatics showing off their “mannequin hands” shade. The one polish that best gives that elongated, flesh-toned look to their hands.
Today we’re checking out my pal Amber’s Mannequin Hands. In my best Amber speak… if you’re not involved in Amber’s blog, Beauty Blogging Junkie, I don’t WHAT you’re doing with your time. Amber doesn’t speak MAC because she’s a NARS girl. NARS Sheer Glow in Fiji to be exact. This is what Amber has to say about her polish pick, CND putty,
“I have been looking for MONTHS for my exact flesh tone lacquer and kept overestimating my Cullen levels of pallor. I mentioned that I could NOT for the life of me find a match when my boss (Rachel Hayes at Daily Makeover) plucked this CND bottle off her desk and goes, this one’s your exact match. And she was 100% right. It looks like an extension of my fingertips. I love that elongates my fingers with a little extra glossiness. And CND polishes always last a week for me, if I pair it with my favorite Priti topcoat.”

CND Monday – Oilslick and Raisin In The Sun Layering
Welcome to CND Monday, a regular series here on ALU. Each week I’ll be sharing a new layering combination from CND Colour & Effects to show you the versatility and creativity of the line.
One of my favorite CND polishes from the old line is NFS, a deep teal-based green with subtle tonal shimmer. You know me and my greens. It’s a shame NFS has reached hard-to-find status but I was pleased to hear that the new Colour & Effects line included a blackened green, Oilslick, in the lineup. Up until now I’ve only shown layering combinations using the Effects but I discovered a great combo with the Colours during New York Fashion Week. The CND Team raved about the look they created for Monique Lhuillier’s collection using Oilslick, Raisin in the Sun and Super Matte top coat. Check out my re-creation after the jump! |

OK so I’m not confused, I know it’s Tuesday but due to server issues I wasn’t able to post my CND Monday combo and I just couldn’t wait a week to do so. This server downtime is driving me batty but it should be resolved. *fingers crossed* This combo was inspired by a reader comment. ReaderRita mentioned that she recently ordered Violet Shimmer hoping it would look good layered over any color. I decided to pull mine out of the drawer to see how it if fares with Plumville. Check out the results after the jump! |
Katy Perry’s Blinged Out Nails by Kimmie Kyees
It would be safe to say that I’m involved with Twitter. I love seeing what all my blogging friends are up to, interacting with fellow Fanatics and, being pop culture obsessed, keeping tabs on my fave celebs, especially ones with a passion for polish.
Katy Perry is a perfect example since she posts shots of her nails on the regular. Remember her groovy flower power Minx manicure I wrote about last July? Well she has topped herself this time Fanatics. Last week, Katy showed off the blingtastic look that she wore as host of the MTV EMAs in Berlin. With that amount of sparkle going on, her nails should come with a warning to wear shades before viewing. We’re talking full-on glitz. Being the nosy nelly that I am, I had to get the deets on this look and thankfully Celebrity Manicurist Kimmie Kyees was available to answer all my questions.
