ALU NYFW NOTD Challenge SS11 – Day 4
Oh hello there! I didn’t forget about the challenge. I’ve just been running around NYC like a madwoman. I returned late Wednesday night and literally slept my Thursday away. A week of only sleeping four hours a night will do that to you. I could actually crawl into bed right now, I’m that tired.
Not that you want to hear about any of that. I was having an absolutely fabulous time so a little sleep deprivation is a small price to pay. So Day 4 for me was Sunday. It’s always one of my fave days at NYFW because it kicks off with the triple threat beauty team of Deborah Lippmann, Sarah Lucero from Stila and Ted Gibson backstage at Lela Rose. Since I knew I’d be seeing Deb, I concocted a layering combo using her holiday color Today Was A Fairytale. I’ve been pretty obsessed with it ever since I wore it to an Emmy watching party. This time instead of using a pale blue underneath I opted for something a little more industrial and gritty, the new Dashing Diva Penthouse Views from their fall color collection. |
Deborah Lippmann Spring & Summer 2011 Preview
As a Deborah Lippmann fangirl one of the highlights of New York Fashion Week is getting to chat with her backstage. She always has a great color story to tell and seems genuinely excited to see me. I’m not going to lie, it makes me feel like a bit of a rock star. She really knows how to make a girl feel special. It’s really no wonder she has such a celebrity following.
I’ve had the chance to catch up with Deb at both the ADAM and Lela Rose runway shows and was able to get a preview of her new nail colors for Spring and Summer 2011. Curious to see what she cooked up? Find out after the jump! |
Get The Nail Look – Lea Michele at the 62nd Annual Emmy Awards
Birthday girl Lea Michele ruled the Emmy red carpet in a stunning navy Oscar De La Renta gown. The Glee star, who IMO should have won for Best Actress, glowed from head to toe. She is my pick for best dressed of the night and in some shots I’ve seen, she strongly resembled Penelope Cruz. After all they do both love Mr. De La Renta’s frocks.
Lea’s glam squad was comprised of Makeup Artist Melanie Inglessis for NARS, Hair Stylist Mark Townsend for Dove and Manicurist Deborah Lippmann. Melanie Inglessis used NARS new Pure Matte Lipstick in Tashkent and while I was leery about the whole matte lip trend taking us back to 90s, it looks beautiful on Lea. Pairing dramatic winged eye liner with nude lips and full, tousled hair, Lea’s nails were painted a deep, dark hue to match her dress. Can you guess what polish Deborah used? |
Get The Nail Look – January Jones at the 62nd Annual Emmy Awards
Let me start by saying that I love January Jones playing the least likely candidate for mother-of-the-year on Mad Men and I think she’s a beautiful woman BUT what was going on with her dress last night at the Emmys? I’m not generally a fan of the short in the front, long in the back look but when you add in the fish scale pattern it looks a little too mermaid-esque for my taste. Regardless, her nails were on point!
Celebrity Manicurist Deborah Lippmann worked with January to give her a dark, dramatic manicure. She shaped January’s nails into elongated ovals, Deb’s favorite shape, and painted them a deep plum hue.
Deb’s color of choice, Dark Side of the Moon from her eponymous line of nail polish.
What do you think of January’s look from the Emmys? Do you agree with her nail color selection?
Deborah Lippmann Dark Side of the Moon retails for $16/ea and can be purchased online at DeborahLippmann.com, Nordstrom.com and Beauty.com.
An Emmy Worthy Manicure – China Glaze Sea Spray & Deborah Lippmann Today Was A Fairytale
After a long weekend in Michigan celebrating the boyfriend’s birthday I returned home last night to attend a fabulous Emmy Awards party hosted by Pauline (aka OHmommy) of Classy Chaos. Pauline invited a few local bloggers and frequent blog commenters to her home to indulge in some delish food and salon treatments courtesy of Suave.
A local salon, Salon Blu, treated us to manicures and hair styling while we watched the show, imbibed wine and munched on yummy eats from Maggiano’s Little Italy. Needless to say, it was a great night. I usually watch the Emmys on my own so it was a fun twist to tune in with other TV fanatics and mingle with my fellow CLE bloggers. Of course the big question was what do I wear on my nails? I ended up layering Deborah Lippmann Today Was A Fairytale from her upcoming Holiday 2010 collection over China Glaze Sea Spray, one of the shades in the Spring 2011 collection strong>, Anchors Away. |
