MAC Nail Trend F/W 2010 Swatches & Review
Jin Soon does it again! Following up her slam dunk sell-out collaboration with MAC last fall, they have teamed up again on Nail Trend F/W 10.
If you aren’t familiar with the genius that is Jin Soon check out The Nail Files interview I posted last year. She’s major in the editorial world and really on her game with color as evidenced by the nail polishes she created with MAC. Mistress of the art of the sophisticated nail, Jin Soon was inspired this season by the sensual pleasures of the Forbidden City for Nail Trend F/W ’10 – colours taken from the sculptures, tiles, architecture, fabrics, and decorative papers of Imperial China. Jin synthesized this vision to arrive at a collection in exotic and ravishing combinations of orange, blue, taupe, green, purple and, of course, lacquer red. |
MAC Alice + Olivia Collection Nail Lacquer Swatches & Review
If Alice fell down the rabbit hole and met a Makeup Artist instead of the Mad Hatter, M·A·C alice + olivia is the curiously gorgeous collection she’d be rocking!
Hip, playful, unpretentious and unabashedly fun, M·A·C is thrilled to announce the latest collaboration with the most adorably fabulous fashionista we know, designer Stacey Bendet of cult-fave line, alice + olivia. Celebrities, socials and all-around cool girls from coast to coast are obsessed with a + o’s uptown-meets-downtown aesthetic and colourful, playful vibe, so the inspiration for the makeup collection was a cinch!
Fun, playful and hip all come to mind when I think of MAC and their consistently inventive collections so teaming up with Stacey Bendet of alice + olivia seems like a perfect fit. When asked why she became involved in a makeup collection Bendet said, “Well, to me it’s all about colour, whether it’s a crazy pair of striped bell-bottoms or the perfect purple nail polish. It’s about a girl having a great time when she dresses up; and who dresses up without makeup?”Ah, a girl after my own heart. The fact that she appreciates a good purple polish instantly endears her to me. Including a teal in her collection is icing on the cake.

MAC Blue India & Vestral White from Give Me Liberty of London
A couple months ago I flipped over the promo pics of the new MAC Give Me Liberty of London nail polish Blue India and it more than lived up to the hype. Known for their iconic collaborations with labels like Comme de Garcons, Liberty of London has teamed up with MAC to create a makeup collection that brings the brand’s prints to life.
The packaging which is based on William Morris’s Strawberry Theif print from 1883 is a makeup collector’s dream come true. I’m one of those people who hoards all of MAC’s specialty packaging. I have a drawer filled with boxes from the Barbie, Heatherette, Hello Kitty, Fafi, Viva Glam etc. I’ll even buy colors that won’t work for me because I’m a sucker for great packaging. If you fit that mold, you’ll die over Give Me Liberty of London. Check out Blue India and Vestral White after the jump! |
MAC Riveting Matte Nail Lacquers Swatches & Review
MAC is hitting us with a lot of nail color this spring. Almost all the collections include nail polish and Riveting, MAC’s ode to 80s rocker chic, is no exception. They’re hitching their wagon on the matte polish train with three true, flat mattes. Unlike the Jin Soon polishes that were rumored to be matte (they were cremes) these are matte polishes as we’ve come to know them.
One thing that is a bit different about the Riveting nail polishes is that, unlike other brands that included one finish per matte collection, Riveting has two cremes (think OPI Matte) and one shimmer (a la OPI Suede). If you still don’t have your fill of the matte look, take a peek at these after the jump! |
