Go Green Week – Sally Hansen Grass Slipper

sally-hansen-grass-slipper-complete-salon-manicure It’s Go Green Week on ALU! In celebration of Earth Day on Thursday, April 22nd I’m reviewing some of the great green polishes from this season that I haven’t yet shared. Included with the reviews are tips on how you can “green” your manicure routine.

Last winter I was in Michigan visiting friends when I made pit stop at Meijer’s to check out the Massini brand of nail polishes that I’ve heard so much about.  The word on the interwebs is that Massini is made by Color Club and some of the polishes are dupes for the holographic CC’s.

Of course, I got completely sidetracked when I spotted a bright green polish in the Sally Hansen rack.  I saw the Spring Tracy Reese shades backstage at Fashion Week last fall but hadn’t seen the core colors yet.  Grass Slipper from the Complete Salon Manicure line jumped into my cart and it’s a fantastic color.  Check it out after the jump!

Sally Hansen Midnight in NY and Hidden Treasure

sally hansen complete salon manicure midnight ny hidden treasure bottle Last September during NYFW, Sally Hansen unveiled their new Complete Salon Manicure line and the Tracy Reese for Sally Hansen Spring 2010 Runway Collection.  Two of the shades, Midnight in NY and Hidden Treasure were layered to create the nail look for the show.

I’ve already beyond raved over the Complete Salon Manicure formula when I wore it during my NYFW NOTD Challenge so I’ll spare you my gushing but wonky brush or not, this polish wears like iron.  And the combination of Midnight in NY and Hidden Treasure is not only gorgeous, it resembles a certain hard-to-find polish that many of you hunted for last fall.  See what I’m talking about after the jump!

ALU at NYFW – Tracy Reese FW 2010

tracy-reese-fw-2010-nyfw I told you all about my experience watching the Tracy Reese Fall 2010 collection walk the runways from the front of the house and now I’m taking you backstage to talk beauty.

Dana Caruso for Sally Hansen, Charlotte Willer for Maybelline and Jeanie Syfu for Tresemme were responsible for bringing together the hair, makeup and nails to create a “country meets city chic” look for the models. The hair was full of texture, the eye sparkled and the nails were all out cool as the lace nail made an appearance at NYFW.

Read on for the full details and a look at the Fall Tracy Reese for Sally Hansen collection.

ALU NYFW NOTD Challenge – FW 2010 Day 4

sally-hansen-notd Last Monday was a big day for me at NYFW. Not only did I run myself ragged covering like 6 or 7 shows in a day but I was invited to sit front row at the Tracy Reese runway show at the tents.  Can you even?  I nearly died inside when I found out.I’ve been to shows in past seasons and once I was even pulled to the front row as a seat filler at an off-site show.  But this was totally different.  I love Tracy Reese’s designs and her show is always one of my faves.  Plus she draws some great celebs each season and being a total Entertainment Weekly/E! type of girl, my inner celeb stalker was thrilled.

Of course, I had to plan out not only what I would wear but my nail color.  Since Sally Hansen partners with Tracy Reese each season, a color from their new Complete Salon Manicure line was a natural choice.  But with so many colors in the line, which one do I bring?  Color of the moment and Chanel Particuliere doppelganger Commander In Chic?  A fun metallic like Pedal To The Metal?  A very “me” blue or green?  See what color I chose after the jump along with some pics from my front row vantage point and my web celeb encounter.

Mannequin Hands is a new series featuring ALU Fanatics showing off their “mannequin hands” shade. The one polish that best gives that elongated, flesh-toned look to their hands.

Today we’re taking a look at KarenD‘s mannequin hands. She used three coats of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in 220 Café Au Lait since she’s, “still learning to work with that funky wide brush.”  She also showed it mattified with China Glaze Matte Magic (below). Karen is primarily a drugstore woman using Revlon Colorstay Ivory foundation and has shared some additional images on MUA (click here).
