Get The Look – Ginnifer Goodwin in He’s Just Not That Into You

ginnifer goodwin, nail polish, he's just not that into you, purple nails, purple polish, nubar pasadena purple, nail color, gigi, ginnifer goodwin nailsI’ve received quite a few emails and comments regarding Ginnifer Goodwin‘s nail look in the flick He’s Just Not That Into You. I haven’t seen a movie character’s polish receive this much attention since Emily Blunt sported Essie Aruba Blue in The Devil Wears Prada.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t until I went to NYC for fashion week that I finally caught the film. Now I get it. Ginnifer’s character Gigi sports a stunning purple throughout the film. To my eye it looks like she’s wearing two different shades, a lighter lilac similar to Lippmann Purple Rain and a darker red-grape that remained a mystery until recently.

Thanks to reader Marie for linking me to an EW.com Style Hunter article that reveals the big answer. HJNTIY‘s makeup artist Tina Roesler Kerwin selected Nubar Pasadena Purple for Ginnifer.

About a year and a half ago, I heard that Lead Man Brent Rice chose Nubar polishes as set decoration for a nail salon scene so I suspected that a Nubar shade was used but I’m happy to have confirmation.

Now you too can have fun purple nails like Gigi by slapping on a couple coats of Pasadena Purple. Just don’t act a fool like she did while wearing it. I mean seriously girls, I know she’s playing an over-dramatized version of a stereotype but do any of us really know any girls that ridiculous? I’m glad she got a happy ending but what a train wreck of a way to get there, no?

51st Annual Grammy Awards Nail Watch

51st Annual Grammy Awards, nail polish, nail trends, AdeleSo I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t sad that Rihanna was a no show at last night’s Grammy Awards. I know there’s a whole scandal a-brewing and I certainly hope she’s OK but the red carpet just wasn’t the same without her. Let’s all hope it’s one big misunderstanding.

Being that I look to the Grammy’s as the one awards show where standout nails are acceptable, I must say that overall I was a wee disappointed though not where Adele is concerned.

I was so happy to see her perform and WIN though I was just as delighted to see her go for it with her nails. Am I big fan of the talon look? No! But she didn’t go too long (Fantasia, I’m talking to you) and she kept the design simple; a reverse french with black tips.

See who else stood out (both good and bad) after the jump!

51st Annual Grammy Awards, nail polish, nail trends, Katy PerryI’ve been hearing mixed reviews on Katy Perry’s look but I just adore her. Her opaque, baby pink tips , ornate dress and heavily lined eyes are working for me. She could take the spray tan down a notch.

Get The Look: OPI Mod About You

51st Annual Grammy Awards, nail polish, nail trends, Cyndi LauperCyndi Lauper and Karina Pasian (pictured below) both went the stark white route. Honestly, it’s the only part of Cyndi’s ensemble I can sign off on. Mod white tips are very fresh for spring.

51st Annual Grammy Awards, nail polish, nail trends, Audrina PatridgeIs it just me or does Audrina Patridge look NOTHING like she does on The Hills? I almost didn’t recognize her. I actually love her makeup, dress and nails (so so on the hair). She accented her teal gown with a deep taupe nail.

Get the look: OPI You Don’t Know Jacques

51st Annual Grammy Awards, nail polish, nail trends, M.I.A., MIAI thought for sure M.I.A. would go into labor during the ceremony. Her due date was yesterday but she strutted her preggers self down the red carpet awash in all sorts of brightness.

Get The Look: Misa Happy Happy

51st Annual Grammy Awards, nail polish, nail trends, Leona LewisLeona Lewis was a bronzed goddess and her coral red tips added just the right punch of color.

Get the look: Essie California Coral

51st Annual Grammy Awards, nail polish, nail trends, LeAnn RimesI’m totally coveting LeAnn Rimes‘ dress. It’s not something I would normally dig but I’m transfixed by it. I love that she coordinated her tips & toes in a complementary blue hue.

Get the look: China Glaze Blue Paradise

51st Annual Grammy Awards, nail polish, nail trends, kelly reneeI’m not gonna lie and say I know who Kelly Renee is. I have no clue. But her turquoise and gold nails certainly made me take notice. I’ll admit that I’ve rocked the one odd nail out look before but this just didn’t work for me. Props for trying but it made no sense with her outfit.

Don’t get the look: Try a black/gold, black/nude combo instead.

Did you watch last night? Whose nails stood out to you?

Happy Friday kids! One more Golden Globe wrap up then I’m done, swear. If it wasn’t my favorite award show of the year, I wouldn’t be so gaga. Of course the Grammy’s are coming up and you KNOW there will be at least a few crazy nail looks on that red carpet. Can’t WAIT!

Anywho, the biggest nail trends of the night were red and vampy shades. Dark nails just won’t go away, not that I’m complaining, and classic reds are huge right now.

Can you guess who rocked the looks above? Find out after the jump.

Red Carpet Reds

Beautiful, charming and hilarious, Isla Fisher was stunning with her dark red nails. I’m not the biggest fan of the dress but I just find her adorable.

Get The Look: OPI Got The Blues For Red

Susan Sarandon mixes a hint of sexy with age appropriate understated glamour. Her classic red nails are the perfect accent.

Evan Rachel Wood transitioned her crimson tips from last week’s Critic’s Choice Awards to a more vibrant robust red.

Anne Hathaway has certainly been all about the red nails lately. She wore red to the Critics Choice Awards and Bride Wars premiere.

Vixenish Vamps

Selma Hayek‘s dark nails surprised me. She always struck me as someone who prefers a clean, nude look.

Get The Look: Zoya Raven

Miss Golden Globe, Rumer Willis, complimented her plum gown with a dark eggplant nail.

Get The Look: Orly Plum Noir

Have you read Mindy Kaling‘s blog, Things I’ve Bought That I Love? In one of her posts she discusses how every girl only needs 5 shades of polish. FIVE?? Is she mad? Her pick for vamping it up, what she calls “first date nails,” is from Chanel.

Get The Look: Chanel Madness

Heidi Klum, never one to shy away from trends or over the top looks, selected a black sparkler for her tips.

Get The Look: Dior Black Sequins

Celebrity manicurist, Tom Bachik, gave Beyonce rich brown tips to accentuate her champagne colored gown using Chanel Haute Chocolat.

Were there any looks that stood out to you? Who was your favorite? Or do you just not care about award shows like I do?

Golden Globes Nail Watch – Amanda Seyfried

By on January 12, 2009

Now I haven’t seen all the films of 2008 but compared to the ones I did, Mamma Mia is definitely my favorite of the year. My BFF turned me into an ABBA fanatic back in my late teens when he would play songs from ABBA Gold while we hung out after work. And I rushed off to see the stage version of Mamma Mia when it came to the Cleveburg, dancing in the isles with the crowd at the end.

Needless to say, when I had the opportunity to see an advanced screening of the movie version ofMamma Mia last summer, I was giddy with excitement. Even in a room full of media folk there was laughter, clapping and cheering including full out applause at the end. Truly fantastic! The biggest surprise of the movie… the gorgeous and talented Amanda Seyfried. Who knew this girl that I’d only seen playing a ditzy blonde (Mean Girls), a dead BFF (Veronica Mars) and a mormon teen (Big Love) had such a voice? She’s pretty magical in the role, especially with Meryl Streep by her side.

Well, on the red carpet at last night’s Golden Globes she certainly glowed all on her own. Amanda was a vision with beautiful berry lips, heavily lined eyes and deep burgundy tips. Even though I’m not a matchy-matchy girl when it comes to nails, it works on her.

I recommend OPI We’ll Always Have Paris ($4.48 on 8ty8Beauty.com) or Misa Love Bite ($3.00 on Head2ToeBeauty.com) to get the look at home.
