gradation-manicure-ombre-effect-blue-multi-colored-nails This weekend I’m headed to Sandusky, Ohio, home of the world’s greatest amusement park, Cedar Point.  And I’m not just saying that because I worked there and it’s in my home state. The park has been awarded that title nine times in a row.  With 17 roller coasters, it’s a thrill seeker’s nirvana.

The reason for my trip, a mini-reunion with some of my friends I used to work with back in the day.  Seriously, if you know any college students looking for a summer job, this is the place.  It’s so much fun.  They recruit from all over the world and provide housing.  It’s like college without all the books and classes.

Anywho, I wanted to do something fun with my nails and ever since I first tried an Ombre Multi-Colored Manicure, I’ve been meaning to do it again.  Only this time, instead of mixing my colors, I chose to use five existing shades to create the effect.

Rescue Beauty Lounge “The Real Housewives Of The Tudor Dynasty” Swatches & Review

rescue-beauty-lounge-fall-2010-collection-bottles THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF THE TUDOR DYNASTY INSPIRE A BROCADE-HUED NAIL POLISH COLLECTION FROM RESCUE BEAUTY.

The opulent fabrics, quiet luxury and return of ladylike fashions brought to mind the British Royal family to Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Ji Baek. No, not the current resident of Buckingham Palace but the colorful (and often short-lived) wives of Henry the VIII.

Known for her flawless, full-coverage cremes, for Fall 2010 Ji Baek infused opulent multi-dimensional shimmer with rich, heavily pigmented hues. The result, a collection worthy of even the most royal of fingertips.

I’m personally not well schooled on the history of The House of Tudor, outside of my love for the Showtime series.  Though given the popularity of The Tudors and recent series finale, this collection, with its strong fashion driven edge, is very timely.

China Glaze Vintage Vixen “Cat’s Meow” Swatches & Review

china glaze Vintage Vixen cat's meow six piece set In spite of the fact that women were called “dames” and “broads” there’s something about the 1940′s that intrigues me.  I wouldn’t want to live in that time but I’m completely fascinated by the style and beauty of that era.  The pin curls, the heavily powdered and made up faces, the structured clothes.  Women put so much work into their look.

Though what the ladies of the 40′s seriously missed out on is nail color.  As we all know, there is more to life than blood red talons. Thankfully when China Glaze looked to the 40s for inspiration, they pulled shades from all aspects of that decade to bring us the colorful Cat’s Meow set from the Vintage Vixen collection.

Deborah Lippmann Fall 2010 – Across The Universe & Bad Romance Swatches & Review

deborah-lippmann-across-the-universe-bad-romance-nordstrom There ain’t no party like a glitter party cuz a glitter party don’t stop!

Are you ready to kick off the holiday weekend with a blingasm?  I know I am!!  I told you back in February that for the second half of 2010 Deborah Lippmann is hosting a glitter spectacular and it all starts with her Fall 2010 collection.

I’ve always been a lukewarm Beatles fan.  I own a few albums but I don’t live and die for them.  Then the movie musical Across The Universe came out and I was smitten.  Who knew Jim Sturgess could belt it out?

The dreamy, mermaid-esque blue glitter baring the same name is a perfect fit for the trippy, lullaby sounding tune and the whimsical film.  Meanwhile the black-based magenta glitter, Bad Romance, is both hard-edge and feminine much like Lady Gaga.

My 2010 Wedding Season Mani-Pedi Combination

notd-china-glaze-for-audrey-flyin-high This past weekend the boyfriend and I attended the wedding of one of our favorite people on the planet.  She is funny, smart, charming.  Just an amazing friend.  One of those people that you meet and just know you want in your life.  So you can imagine how happy we are that she found a man who realizes how special she is and treats her a queen.

Of course a wedding means planning the right outfit all the way down to your fingers and toes.  I immediately knew which dress I wanted to wear but deciding on nail color was a challenge.  Do I go trendy because I’m the all knowing nail girl (my friend said that, not me)?  Do I play it safe because it’s a wedding?  Or do I march to the beat of my own drummer and go with what strikes my fancy?  I chose D – All Of The Above.
