Chanel Noir Et Or Paris-Shanghai Collection Preview
For the “Metiers D’Art” fashion show in Shanghai, Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of Chanel Makeup, created an exclusive collection, Noir Et Or. The collection is a glamorous fantasy of Shanghai in the 30’s and 40’s as Coco Chanel herself may have imagined it. The black and gold eyes and nails complimented the gilded and jet black accents shown on the runway.
Like the Paris-Moscou Collection, the Noir Et Or Paris-Shanghai Collection is a limited edition set of colors taken straight from the runway. I have to admit I’m a bit surprised to see Chanel coming out with a matte polish at this point in the game. They’ve always been trendsetters not followers so I’m curious to see how Black Velvet is received. |

Meet Ginger + Liz Nail Colour
Being the lone nail blogger at NYFW means that everyone either looks at my nails, hides their nails in embarrassment (I’m so NOT judging) or asks me about different polish brands. Well this season was a bit different because when I’d run into my blogging friends backstage the majority asked if I had met Ginger and Liz.
Ginger Johnson and Liz Pickett are the brains behind their eponymous polish line Ginger + Liz which recently had its retail debut at a Henri Bendel trunk show. Before this week I’ve tweeted and emailed with the duo but never actually met them. Well let me just say, these ladies are not only beautiful and charming but they have a fabulous sense of style and color. Orly Foil FX Collection Swatches & Review
Thanks to the popularity of the Minx chrome finish appliques, nail polish brands are jumping to give us a “Minx-like” effect. Let’s face it, Minx are super cool but expensive. They’re best for special occasions not everyday wear. Enter Orly’s latest collection Foil FX, a line of three high shine metallic polishes.
While we know that no polish can truly achieve a mirror-like finish, the Foil FX make a valiant effort. With a silver, gold and bronze-y rose tone, there’s a color to compliment all skin tones. Check them out after the jump! |
OPI Hong Kong Collection Swatches, Review & Comparisons – Part 1
One of the most anticipated collections of the season, OPI Hong Kong takes us to the far east and I don’t want to come back. Following what I consider a pretty boring year for OPI (I just didn’t LOVE Spain & South Beach) they’re already off to a great start with Alice in Wonderland and Hong Kong. I hope the momentum keeps going throughout the year.
Of course I’ve been geeked over the idea of a new OPI green so Jade Is The New Black has been on my mind for months and it did NOT disappoint. I dare say it may take down Rainforest as my all-time fave OPI. That’s a huge statement people! Golden Globes Nail Watch – Ginnifer Goodwin & Jeanne Tripplehorn
Big Love “sister wives” Ginnifer Goodwin and Jeanne Tripplehorn braved the rain-soaked Golden Globes carpet together looking, quite frankly, like a mother-daughter duo. Jeanne’s matronly dress does no justice to her beauty though she does score points in the nail department for donning a chic, browned-grey nail.As mentioned on E!’s Live From The Red Carpet, the co-stars spent their pre-show time together as well, with pampering manis & pedis at Recess Organic Nail Spa in LA accompanied by Ginnifer’s mom.
