Essie Fall 2013 “For The Twill of It” Nail Polish Swatches & Review

If there’s one takeaway from my encounters over the years with Essie founder, Essie Weingarten, it’s that she loves fashion and color. Of all her seasonal collections, it’s the Essie Fall color palettes that express that best. Inspired by the textures and fabrics of the season, the Essie Fall 2013 “For The Twill of It” nail colors are rich, chic and utterly Essie.

“I love the idea of creating polish that’s like the proverbial boyfriend sweater – in this case, a blazer borrowed from the boys,” says brand founder and Global Creative Director Essie Weingarten. “Creating nail color with a warm and fuzzy feeling can be tricky,” Weingarten explains. “But when you get it right, it really is like putting on your favorite sweater.” Transferring the soft volumes and rich woolens of the fall runways, essie offers six seductively tactile shades that radiate beautifully tailored warmth.

The JINsoon Tibi nail polish collection for Fall 2013 is, in a word, SPARK-TACULAR! Known for her high fashion, glossy cremes, Jin Soon Choi, took a different route with her eponymous line when she teamed up with tibi designer, Amy Smilovic.

Sticking to her simple, sophisticated roots, Jin created five sparkling shades that are refined and elegant. Yet, adding a layer of the new Matte Maker top coat brings out the urban, utilitarian feel of Tibi’s fall line. Named after minerals and rocks, these shades hit on the jewel tone and vampy nail trends that are shaping up to be the theme of Fall 2013.

Tweed Inspired Nail Art Tutorial with Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat #IHeartMyNailArt

When it comes to doing nail art, my motto is to keep it attainable, not aspirational. I love to look at intricate, hand-painted designs as much as the next nail fanatic, but I’ll never attempt them myself because I just don’t have the steady hand or artistic skills for it.

Every look I create is something I feel a decent polisher, like myself, can DIY. That’s why I was excited to participate in the Sally Hansen #IHeartMyNailArt campaign featuring the Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat nail polishes.

As you know, I’ve showed you ways to wear the Fuzzy Coat polishes previously but, for this campaign, I wanted to reach outside my comfort zone and try something new. A tweed coat from the Chanel Fall 2013 Haute Couture collection became my inspiration and I’m really happy with how the look turned out. Keep reading to see how I did it.

Deborah Lippmann Fall 2013 “Jewel Heist” – Swatches & Review

Diamonds may be some girl’s best friend but I’ll take emeralds and sapphires any day of the week and clearly Deborah Lippmann is on the same page this fall. Lippmann’s Jewel Heist collection takes a trio of rich, jewel tones and elevates them to a whole new blingtastic level with a set of holographic glitter top coats to match.

You know the old pickup line, “Your daddy must have been a thief  because he stole the stars from the sky and put them in your eyes.” Well, Deborah Lippmann must have been a thief because she robbed a jewelry store and put the gems in her polish. Watch the shimmering emerald, vampy sapphire blue and a multi-dimensional gold pop off the page with the addition of the complex, rainbow-reflecting glitters. Like a magpie, you’ll have a hard time focusing on anything else.
