PinspiratioNAIL – Fishtail Nails with the L’Oréal Paris Versailles Romance Collection

Okay, so I’ve never been one of those people who tears pages from magazines or uses the clever reminder tabs that come with Lucky when I see something I like. Instead, I’m the one who saves decades of magazines and then has to ransack them looking for that one thing, I saw that one time, that I now want, but can’t remember the name of. Brilliant system, eh?

Fortunately, there’s Pinterest and it’s been a revelation, and a giant time suck, for me. I credit Pinterest with changing my mind about nail art. Not gonna lie, I’d been drinking the nail art hatorade. When nail art took off, a lot of what I saw was too over-the-top for my taste. Seeing tons of it roll by on Pinterest has warmed my heart, though I prefer the simpler, more geometric designs. It also helped me find amazing nail art bloggers like Chalkboard Nails and Lucy’s Stash.

Over the past year I’ve been collecting nail art designs on Pinterest that I want to try someday. Well, today is that someday. I’m going to attempt to recreate my fave nail art looks in this new series PinspiratioNAIL. I’ll put my spin on an image I find on Pinterest. My first look is a Fishtail Manicure using the new L’Oréal Paris Versailles Romance nail polish collection.

Essie founder, Essie Weingarten, is the quintessential uptown lady and while she may throw us a color curve ball from time to time, hello Luxeffects, she creates nail polish with the typical Essie woman in mind. Classic, fashionable, effortlessly chic, they are the type who tend to play it a bit safe with nail color on their hands but can rock a turquoise pedicure with the best of them.

Mani Monday – My St. Patrick’s Day Manicure aka What Happens When I Can’t Make A Decision

How many of you joined me in playing, “Irish for a Day” yesterday? Here in Cleveland, thousands of us faux-Irishmen braved the chilling temps to watch the St. Patrick’s Day parade, bar hop and don more green than Lady Gaga’s Kermit the Frog dress. While lots of people worked up elaborate ensembles, I relied on my Lucky Charms tee & pool felt-colored pea coat and focused on my nails.

Being the green nail polish fanatic that I am left me with Helmer drawers filled with decisions. I pulled over 15 colors and tried multiple nail art ideas on practice wheels, to the point that I ended up wasting too much time to actually execute them. Typical me!

At the end of the day, I spent all that time working on something only I would notice. I mean we are talking about being surrounded by drunks who could care less about nails. So, I just slapped on the colors I was drawn to most. A different color on each nail, adding a layer of glitter here and there with a simple glitter gradient on one. Nothing mind blowing but still fun and totally me.

What I used: China Glaze Mistletoe Kissses (thumb & glitter gradient on ring), Illamasqua Kink (middle), Julep Emilie (ring), LCN Halo of Angels (top layer of index), Orly Here Comes Trouble (top layer of pinkie), Orly Luxe (base of index and pinkie).

How do you celebrate St. Paddy’s Day? Did you wear a special mani for the day? What is your ultimate St. Patrick’s Day emerald green nail polish? China Glaze Emerald Sparkle is definitely mine and it took all my willpower to not give into the hold it has on me.

This past weekend, Cleveland got its first real taste of Spring. It was so deliciously warm and sunny and I never wanted it to end. So much so that I can’t even think about wearing dark colors on my nails anymore. It’s like inviting Winter back in. Instead I want luscious, sweet cremes and brights all over my tips which is why I’m all about the China Glaze Avant Garden collection.
