revlon top speed emerald nail polish 365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.

You guys! I am simply flabbergasted and overwhelmed by all your lovely comments, emails and tweets. The love and thoughtfulness of the blogosphere is truly amazing. Thank you, thank you, thank you! As a quick update, my daddy is home and feeling much much better and the outlook on his health is positive. If it taught me anything it’s to take the best possible care of yourself. It’s something I’ve been failing to do and why I have made some changes myself, including joining Weight Watchers. So if you’re looking for a WW buddy, I’m here!

Now let’s talk polish, shall we? If you remember my Revlon Vixen review, you’ll recall that I straight up HATED the formula. It was a bubble filled disaster. Well based on a comment suggesting that I give the Revlon Top Speed line a try I decided that instead of completely writing off the brand I would give it one last go with Revlon Emerald. Let’s see how it fared.

Chanel Fall 2011 Illusions d’Ombres de Chanel Nail Polish Preview

chanel illusions d'ombre de chanel fall 2011 collection Last winter we got a peek at one of the Chanel Fall 2011 nail polishes when Chanel Graphite hit the runway but it’s Chanel Peridot that seems to be getting all the buzz. Is it green? Is it yellow? Are we talking Chanel duo-chrome?

Inspired by the heritage and savoir faire of the artisanal craftsmanship of the House of Chanel, Peter Philips, Creative Director of Chanel Makeup, introduces new textures and makeup effects in a radiant Fall 2011 Collection, ILLUSIONS D’OMBRES DE CHANEL.

At the heart of this captivating colour story: Shimmering bronze, gold and platinum are the perfect complements to plum, khaki and copper shades on eyes and lips. Unique reflections of metallic green, silver and beige on nails provide the ideal counterpoint.

“Illusion d’Ombre is a new and exciting product, that’s easy to apply,” says Peter Philips. “I would suggest finger application. The texture is unique and has a very pleasant touch.”

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Sinful Colors Open Seas from the Adventure Island collection

sinful open seas nail polish from the sinful adventure island collection for summer 2011 365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.

Even though I tend to be pretty much a salon brand kind of girl I do have certain drugstore lines that I consider quality buys. Sally Hansen is a given, Milani puts out some great colors and is regularly on sale and Sinful Colors makes the best budget nail polish I’ve tried. Though it’s always on the bottom shelf of the fragrance counter at my local Walgreens which really does a disservice the brand.

Of course my Rite-Aid knows Sinful’s value as they always place Sinful’s seasonal collections in a prominent spot. As was the case last week when I stopped in to see what was new.

Side note: The Rite-Aid closest to me has the best seasonal displays of any drugstore chain in the area. It’s a gold mine. The Sally Hansen Tracy Reese & Prabal Gurung collections? Both there, in full!

Anyway, on my last visit I noticed a display that looked eerily like the OPI Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides collection so I had to investigate by bringing Sinful Colors Open Seas home with me.

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Orly Bubbly Bombshell & Here Comes Trouble from the Orly Pin-Up Collection

orly here comes trouble and orly bubbly bombshell nail polish from the orly pin-up collection for summer 2011 365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.Dear Glitter Polishes,

Why can’t I quit you? You’re such a pain to remove that the dread sets in before the first stroke of polish hits the nail. Yet, like a magpie, every time I see a bottle I want to snatch it up and take it home to my stash. You’re clearly my crack because when the high wears off, I’m just left with thoughts of the removal process looming overhead. In spite of all that, I love you. And if loving you is wrong, I don’t want to be right.

XOXO, ALU

The glitter craving struck again when I spotted the display for the Orly Pin-up collection at my local CVS. The four piece collection includes two cremes that I barely noticed. My eyes darted straight to Here Comes Trouble (l) and Bubbly Bombshell (r). For today’s untrieds manicure I decided to combine them into one summery sparkle spectacular.

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Nina Ultra Pro Salsa

nina ultra pro salsa nail polish from sally beauty supply 365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.

I was recently telling a friend that my holy grail of greens, the thing I don’t have, with the exception of a green holo (STILL waiting for that), is a dark emerald jelly polish. NARS Zulu gets all sorts of buzz but anyone who has tried it knows the formula is a train wreck. Even the Nfu Oh green jellies, while a huge improvement over Zulu, aren’t perfect.

On a similar note, I stumbled across a FANTASTIC green jelly today while I was attempting to reorganize some of my polishes. It’s not my dream emerald green jelly but it’s still unique. I have no idea when Nina Ultra Pro Salsa came into my life. I think it was last summer when I purchased Never Glum Plum but can’t be sure. Check it!
