China Glaze Anchors Away Spring 2011 Collection – Knotty Nauticals Swatches & Review
The Knotty Nauticals set from the China Glaze Anchors Away collection for Spring 2011 is filled with rich, bold cremes and glimmering glass flecks.
It’s common knowledge in the boating community that there is a long standing rivalry between power & sail boaters. As a kid I would watch Ohio’s version of Jimmy Buffet, Pat Dailey, rile up the power & sail boaters at the Beer Barrel on Put-In-Bay. This was long before it burned to the ground and rose from the ashes to become the world’s longest bar. And yes, I was a kid in a bar. Let the Sweet Home Alabama analogies begin. Anyway, Pat would taunt each side with stereotypes. That sailors are wine sipping fuddy-duddy’s who look at the water as a relaxing escape. That power boaters are beer chugging, party people who look at the water as a mode of transport, something to rip through. Granted these are heavy generalizations but in some cases they hold true. In my eye the Sand & Sea set is a smooth afternoon cruise on a sailboat and the Knotty Nauticals are a wind-whipping, wild ride on a speed boat. They represent both sides of the boater in me who appreciates the zen of sailing but loves the thrill of zipping across the lake. |
OPI Glam Slam with Serena Williams – Simply Smashing & Black Shatter Swatches & Review
OPI, the world’s leading professional nail care company, partners with tennis superstar, Serena Williams, to launch the Glam Slam collection. Timed in conjunction with the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open, the Glam Slam collection will introduce two new Nail Lacquers at the start of each tournament.
Beginning with the Australian Open, the first shades to be released under the collaboration will include Simply Smashing, a glowing green Nail Lacquer, paired with a revolutionary new product, Black Shatter top coat. Once applied to the dried Nail Lacquer, the top coat begins to disappear, leaving behind a leopard print-style pattern on each nail. I was in Junior High when Andre Agassi took the tennis world by storm. That hot piece of man candy ignited my love for the game and I soon found myself taking lessons with my friends, who also crushed hard on Andre. I even joined the tennis team in High School though I was a mediocre player, at best. Regardless of my lack of tennis talent I’ve enjoyed watching the game ever since and I was really excited to see that Serena Williams, who is known for her stand-out nail styles, collaborated with OPI on a nail polish collection. |
My Go To, Last Minute Holiday Manicure – OPI Here Today… Aragon Tomorrow Suede
After a long and lovely Thanksgiving break, I’m back to blogging. I took a bit of a break to give my nails a rest from swatching and to focus on enjoying the holiday with my family and friends.
The boyfriend and I hosted dinner again this year and all I can say is I am very thankful to have found a man who can cook, and cook well. I’m a disaster in the kitchen and he is a Turkey Day champ! We packed our schedule pretty full including Cleveland’s Winterfest Wine & Ale Fest downtown Saturday night. Naturally I was running late so I relied on my usual last minute manicure trick, matte nail polish. It’s a quick drying lifesaver. Given the holiday theme of the event I opted for a green, OPI Here Today… Aragon Tomorrow, and it’s the perfect shade for the season. |
China Glaze Holiday 2010 – Blue & Greens Swatches, Review & Comparisons
China Glaze has definitely been Naughty AND Nice this year. Nice for releasing so many cute holiday gift sets and a fun range of colors but Naughty for overwhelming us with so many options.
Unlike the past few years where they’ve released just a few holiday shades, for Holiday 2010 the ‘Tis The Season to be naugty and nice collection consists of 16 nail polishes. That’s right, SIXTEEN! To make it easier to take in, I’ve broken down the collection into its three main color families; Blue & Green, White, Silver & Gold and Red & Vampy. We’ll start with my obvious favorite the lone blue (Little Drummer Boy), three greens (Jolly Holly, Mistletoe Kisses, Peace On Earth) and the multi-colored glitter bomb (Party Hearty). |
