Mariah Carey for OPI Spring 2013 Nail Polish Collection Swatches & Review
in Berry, Black, Blue, Bronze, Creme, Metallic, Nude, OPI, Pink, Purple, Sand/Texture, Spring 2013 with 19 Comments
I’m a girl of the Mariah Carey generation. I remember wearing OUT a tape (yes, I said tape) of “Vision of Love” as a teen. I was deeply in my grunge phase when Daydream released yet I was the first one on the dance floor when “Fantasy” came on. One of my best friends in high school had Mariah Carey hair and I was beyond jealous. Even more-so when she straightened it. I mean, WHY? Hell, I still envy Mariah’s curls decades later. So when OPI announced a collaboration with the iconic diva, my curiosity was piqued.
What I wasn’t expecting was to see the emerging trend of texture polishes in Mariah Carey for OPI. I think of Mariah as a pretty classic nail girl which is why this collection is divided into two sections; The Studio Shades (ie traditional) and The Stage Shades (aka Liquid Sand). Let’s take a look…

Calling All Creatives – Jump Back Ball Manicure Ideas Needed
I’ve never done a meme before but, if I did the “Things you don’t know about me” one, I would share that I never went to my prom. I know, it’s not earth shattering but considering that prom was such a big deal at my school, I did feel like quite the oddball for skipping out.
Truth be told, I was just too focused on school and activities to care about having a boyfriend. And going with a guy friend seemed pointless. Instead I road-tripped with a friend whose boyfriend was in college, to visit a mutual friend at my future college, University of Cincinnati. Hitting up campus parties and making out with random, hot college men was definitely more fun.
Anyway, since I never went to a high school prom, I like to think of Playhouse Square’s annual Jump Back Ball as adult prom. You may remember that I attended for the first time last year and it was an absolute blast. JBB is one of the biggest and best benefits in Cleveland and it’s this Saturday.
That’s where you come in. I’m having the worst time trying to decide on a manicure concept and I’m desperate for your help.
Mani Monday – Wedding Glitz with Essie and Sally Hansen
in Essie, Glitter, Holiday 2012, Metallic, Sally Hansen, Silver with 42 Comments
Over the long Thanksgiving weekend, the BF and I traveled to Pittsburgh to celebrate the nuptials of two of our friends. In the past, my go-to wedding dress color is black so I pair it with fun nail color choices but since I joined Weight Watchers and shed 55 pounds, I’ve become a bit bolder in my clothing choices.
I am slowly incorporating more color into my wardrobe so, lately, I find myself opting for metallic nail colors for events. Since my dress was red with a black leopard print, I found myself going down the silver/pewter road for the special occasion.
At the time, I was in the middle of reorganizing my hot mess of an office so I was fortunate to have recently received Essie Beyond Cozy from the Winter 2012 collection and Sally Hansen Shoot The Moon which will become part of the permanent line in March but is out in promo displays now. Together, they take glitz and glam to the next level. Check it out!

Finger Paints “Fall of Surprises” Fall 2012 Nail Polish Collection Swatches and Review
in Blue, Bronze, Fall 2012, Finger Paints, Glitter, Green, Metallic, Purple with 31 Comments
If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you know that in June I had the opportunity to visit the Sally Beauty HQ, home of the Finger Paints brand.
I got to tour the HQ, seeing their museum of vintage beauty appliances, and meet Lindsey and Mindy, who you know if you read the “Eye for Beauty” Blog. Bonus points to them for knowing of my fondness for craft beer and taking me to a kick ass bar in the land of Denton, TX. If you’re ever in the area, head to the Oak Street Drafthouse. You’ll thank me.
Oh and I got to check out the Finger Paints “Fall of Surprises” Fall 2012 collection. I know, I know, way to bury the lead. Needless to say, I kind of flipped when I eyed a copper glitter bomb parked next to my holy nail color trinity of blue, green and purple.

China Glaze Capitol Colours – The Hunger Games Nail Polish Collection Swatches & Review
in China Glaze, Green, Matte, Mauve, Metallic, Nude, Orange, Pink, Silver, Spring 2012 with 249 Comments
We’re only seven weeks and two days away from the hotly anticipated opening of The Hunger Games (yes I’m counting) and the only thing more buzzed about than the actual movie is the nail polish collaboration between Lionsgate and China Glaze, The Capitol Colours Collection. Even people who haven’t read the books are exploding with excitement over these polishes.
Between the drama over whether the collection would even come out, the name changes from a character driven theme to a “Capitol” driven theme, that still represents the Districts more than the Capitol, to the debate over whether a book about a dystopian society where children fight to the death for their District’s survival should even be associated with nail polish, every nail lover has been talking about this collection.
All of that aside, it’s the colors alone that drew the majority of us in. Wanting to own a piece of a favorite book series is definitely a part of it but we wouldn’t be rabid to get our hands on the lacquers unless the colors made our pulses race. And that’s exactly what mine did when the collection landed on my doorstep. Let’s dive into the world of Panem, shall we?
