Through The Looking Glass with Rescue Beauty Lounge Black Russian
One of the biggest events of the year in the CLE is, without a doubt, Jump Back Ball. It’s an annual charity event held at Playhouse Square to benefit the not-for-profit performing arts center and all their community education programs. Comprised of six theaters, Playhouse Square is one of the largest performing arts centers outside of NYC. Just one of the reasons I feel very lucky to live in this city.
Each year Jump Back Ball has a different theme and for its 21st birthday it was, “Through The Looking Glass.” Can you think of anything more fun than an Alice In Wonderland themed ball? Being that this was my first time attending, I was ecstatic. Of course that means finding the right dress/shoes/accessories and coming up with a hair, makeup and nail concept. Oh what fun!

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a Red Hot Milani Manicure
One of the first things I told the boyfriend about being with me is to keep the flower buying to a minimum (seems like a waste) and to NEVER EVER get me a Valentine’s Day gift. Not to be all Debbie Downer about VDay but it’s just not my thing. People put so much pressure on one day and I’d much rather get a surprise from my man because he wants to, not because Hallmark told him to.
Even though we don’t celebrate the holiday, like most men, the BF really loves the color red, especially on nails. As you know, the official colors for today, red and pink, aren’t exactly faves of mine but I may as well indulge him, right? And Milani just happens to have perfect budget-friendly reds to get the job done.
New shades from the Milani High Speed Fast Dry and Jewel FX lines paired with a One Coat Glitter will send Cupid’s arrow straight to your lover’s heart. Or make you the envy of your BFFs when you go out to celebrate the joy of being single.
Side note: There is one thing I look forward to every VDay. My friend HisA sends out an annual email to her girlfriends on this day to share what the past year has taught her about life and love and loving herself as a woman, relationship or not. It’s an amazing gift and something I encourage all of you to do.

Zoya True Spring 2012 Nail Polish Collection Swatches & Review
As I’m sure you’ve figured out, I’m a sucker for greens, blues and purples. Even before I became the full fledged polish fanatic that I am today, those were always the shades I gavitated to. I grew up in a purple bedroom with purple shag carpet that remained until my parents moved 12 years ago. For the majority of my life the only jewelry I wore contained my birthstone, emerald. And my first car was a white convertible with slate blue leather. I’ve had two electric blue cars since.
So you can imagine my joy when I laid eyes on the Zoya True nail polish collection for Spring 2012. They couldn’t make it any more “me” if they tried. Not unless they can make an emerald green holo happen, ha!
A fresh bloom of dewy color. Inspired by the runway looks of top designers this collection features slightly muted and unexpected spring shades in six easy to wear, full-coverage creams and metallics.
I’m sure like a lot of you, I feel programmed to expect Spring to be all a flutter with sheers, pastels and brights. So much so that anytime a brand releases anything outside that color box, I get excited. The True collection certainly gives me butterflies.

“Back” on track. FINALLY!
You guys!! I can’t tell you how much I’ve been missing you all. And I don’t mean that in the cheesy, that’s what I’m supposed to say, way. I’ve been seriously going cra cra laying on my back not able to talk polish with you.
I look forward to reading your comments and emails every day and it’s been rough not having my peeps to interact with. Also, your comments weren’t lost or anything. I’m so behind thanks to an update to the WordPress app for Android. I can’t get the stupid thing to open on my phone or tablet, bother!
Anywhoodle, I’m back for reals this time. After seeing a spine specialist I was told I have a severe muscle strain. I was just so happy it wasn’t disc related. Though the doc offhandedly mentioned that I have degenerative discs. Um, thanks? I was given a choice of a shot in my back or pills & lots of rest with ice. As much as I wanted get better fast, needles scare the bejeezus out of me so I had to opt for the two week drug induced sleepfest.
I’m not 100% yet but I can sit for more than 20 minutes without wanting to cry and I was able to get through 20 minutes of Zumba so I’ll take it. Side note: Those of you curious about my progress with Weight Watchers, I finally hit the 40lb mark this past weekend. I’m almost halfway to goal. Woot!
So I mentioned my NYE manicure in my last real post and while it’s WAY after the fact, I’m so obsessed with this polish I just have to share it with you. I have literally worn this color FOUR times since I got it. That’s in spite of the removal nightmare that is glitter polish.
China Glaze Tinsel Town is my EVERYTHING in terms of glitter polish. It’s so dense that you only need two coats for full coverage. It’s a gorgeous graphite silver that looks chic no matter the season. And the variety of the glitter particles is perfection. Tiny square and round glitter pieces are packed in the semi-sheer smokey blue-grey base with larger hexagonal sequins.
Yes, it eats top coat. To the point that I could still feel texture after using Gelous as a spackle coat and two layers of Out The Door Top Coat. But you know what, it still sparkled like I had little mirrors glued to my nails so I can deal with texture. The removal isn’t a joy but you’ll have that with glitters.
You can still find China Glaze Tinsel Town and the rest of the Let It Snow collection on my go-to etailers Head2ToeBeauty.com and TransDesign.com. Bottles retail for $3/ea.
Next up, the nomination round for the Fanatic Favorites 2011 and my recap of the Golden Globes. And of course, polish. Lots and lots of polish!!!
