lady gaga wearing gray nails on vanity fair's september 2010 issue Just when you thought gray nail polish was over, Lady Gaga makes it hot again on the cover of September’s Vanity Fair.  For the past few days I’ve been getting emails and tweets from readers and fellow bloggers all wondering what that mystery gray polish is on Gaga’s nails.

Never fear, your trusty nail sleuth is here. I love a challenge and I’m such a pop culture fiend that researching this sort of thing is fun for me.  Though what’s funny is I actually had a gut reaction when I saw this cover and, as it turns out, the first email I sent turned out to be the right one.

So what famous manicurist to the stars polished Lady Gaga’s nails to perfection?  And what color did she use?  Make a guess before you click to find out.

Best Holo Ever – Nfu Oh 61 Can Take On Minx Hologram Nails

nfu-oh-61-aqua-base-nail-polish-bottles You guys, I’ve reached holographic nail nirvana thanks to Nfu Oh!

As you may remember I received my first Nfu Oh haul a few weeks back and I’ve been dying to wear the holo, #61, but had to wait until the Aqua Base came back in stock.  Well my second order arrived on Thursday so naturally my weekend manicure choice was Nuf Oh 61!

I wasn’t sure what to expect based on the polish’s bland appearance in the bottle but on the nail, this baby can give Hologram Minx a run for its money.   Ever since Beyonce rocked golden holographic Minx at the Grammy Awards fanatics have been trying to replicate the look.  Well, consider #61 the silver version of those nails at a fraction of the cost.

Essie Summer 2010 Swatches & Review

essie-summer-2010-collection-bottles What’s that?  It’s still summer. You’d never know that based on the number of fall collections that we’re being inundated with.  Is it just me or do the fall colors seem to be coming out earlier?  Maybe it’s because I’m really enjoying my summer and while I’m all about some of the Fall collections, I’m not ready for it to start just yet.  The longer I can keep the Cleveland winter at bay, the better.

It seems like forever and a day since I previewed the Essie Summer 2010 collection.  Oh that’s right, it has been forever and a day. Based on the pastels and florals spotted on the Spring/Summer runways, Essie has mixed soft hues with punchy brights.

opi swiss collection fall 2010 bottles part 2 So today I have the second half of the OPI Swiss collection for you.  Like the backdrop for the white cross on the Swiss flag we’re in all red territory.

I’m sure it’s no surprise to you to hear that the idea of doing an all red post doesn’t exactly jazz me.  It’s just never been my color.  I have a few staple reds that I turn to again and again but overall it’s just not my bag.

However, because I know there are people as fanatical about reds as I am about greens I wanted to share them with you.  And because the formula of all six of these polishes is so stellar, I actually liked a couple of them enough to add them to my stash.  Curious about which ones I gave high marks? Read on to find out!

OPI Swiss Collection for Fall 2010 – Part 1 Swatches & Review

opi swiss collection for fall 2010 bottles part 1 Outside of the movie Heidi, which has been remade way too many times, watches, banks and the Swiss Alps, I admittedly know very little about Switzerland. Which is why when I heard that OPI was releasing a collection based on the country I was skeptical as to what it would consist of.

Of course the OPI Swiss preview pics didn’t do these colors justice.  Why the large bottle images continue to look like artist renderings is beyond me.  Clearly they have a decent photographer to take the display shots, they should being shooting the closeups as well.

Anywho, about the colors.  I will admit that I was a wee bit disappointed to find that half of the collection is in the red family but reds are still a big seller in spite of a growing number of Fanatics making the more unique shades mainstream.  At least OPI has been recognizing this and in the Swiss collection we have been appeased with six shades from the blue, green, purple and metallic color families and that’s what I chose to focus on first.
