Ginger + Liz Got My Groove Back Swatch, Comparison & Review

ginger-+-liz-got-my-groove-back-bottle Foil metallic lovers, I’ve got another bottle of hotness for you.  Ginger + Liz have been hinting via Twitter about “sisters’ for their hit shade Swagger and got my first peek at them on my recent trip to NYC.

One of the things I find interesting about the G+L line is that all their polish names have a back story and both of Swagger’s sisters are named after special people in G+L’s lives.  Got My Groove Back is triplet number two in what I’m calling G+L’s metallic foil series and it’s a beautiful champagne gold.

Triplet number three, Tuck Me In, is a sparkling silver but apparently she’s the cranky sibling since she isn’t ready for her debut.  I saw the actual color in NYC and it’s stunning but the formula is currently being tweaked.

Check out my full review and swatches of Got My Groove Back after the jump!

OPI Summer Flutter Collection Swatches & Review

opi-summer-flutter-collection-2010-bottles OPI’s butterfly themed Summer Flutter collection is their second summer release.  For some reason thinking about flutterbys, as I like to call them, causes that ridiculous Butterfly song from Crazy Town to pop into my head.  Shoot me now, ha!

I actually started looking at pics of butterflies online to get something sweeter in mind as I played with the polishes.  That was especially necessary as I only have seen Monarchs in my neck of the woods. Nothing nearly as colorful as this collection.  With two foil sparklers, a shimmer flecked pink and a creamy orange, the Summer Flutter collection is perfect for those of you on creme overload.

American Apparel Nail Lacquer Swatches & Review

american apparel nail lacquer nail polish bottles Say what you will about American Apparel clothes or ad campaigns but where nail polish is involved they hit a home run.  Last winter the brand introduced their collection of Nail Lacquers and they certainly didn’t play it safe.  Any brand that kicks off with multiple blues and greens automatically scores points in my book.

As I reported, there was a recall due to a bottle issue but to AA’s credit they rectified the situation in a timely manner.  Prior to that I was sent a few polishes by the brand for review but I was only into one of the colors.

I’ve been meaning to hop over to my local American Apparel store to pick up the more “me” shades but I really hate the parking sitch in that area so I couldn’t drag myself over there just for polish until recently.  I know that makes me a bad polish fanatic and believe me, I’m totally kicking myself for waiting so long.  See why after the jump!

My First (and LAST) Water Marble Manicure

in Green, Nail Art, Tips and Tricks with 180 Comments
water marble manicure technique, nail marbling I should really call this manicure “An Afternoon of Frustration” because that’s how trying to create a water marble manicure left me feeling; FRUSTRATED!  Those of you who have mastered the technique, I bow down to you.  I honestly have no desire to try this ever again but since I made the effort, I thought I’d share my experience  with you.

A few years back when China Glaze introduced the OMG! holographic collection, they posted a tutorial for their “Color Swirl” manicure and I was intrigued but intimidated by the process.  Since then a whole mess of YouTubers have made countless water marble tutorials including lots of great tips and tricks to make the technique easier.  I found myself watching a few this morning and got inspired.

Find out more about the water marble technique and my adventure trying to recreate the look after the jump!
