MAC Riveting Matte Nail Lacquers Swatches & Review
MAC is hitting us with a lot of nail color this spring. Almost all the collections include nail polish and Riveting, MAC’s ode to 80s rocker chic, is no exception. They’re hitching their wagon on the matte polish train with three true, flat mattes. Unlike the Jin Soon polishes that were rumored to be matte (they were cremes) these are matte polishes as we’ve come to know them.
One thing that is a bit different about the Riveting nail polishes is that, unlike other brands that included one finish per matte collection, Riveting has two cremes (think OPI Matte) and one shimmer (a la OPI Suede). A Peek At CND’s Look For Fall 2010
I was backstage at the Karen Walker show when I got my first glimpse of the new CND Colour & Effect for fall and it took all my composure not to knock people down to get up close and personal with the new GREEN, yes I said green, for Fall 2010.
For fall CND is taking us on an urban adventure and it all starts with an extremely gorgeous Colour that is a blend of green, blue and gray paired with an electrifying Sparkle Effect. I had the chance to speak with CND’s Jan Arnold and she shared with me “The Look” for fall and its fashion inspiration. Deborah Lippmann Spring 2010 Swatches & Review
While I was backstage at the ADAM show, I had the chance to chat with Deborah Lippmann whose team was polishing the models’ nails with Fashion for the runway. We talked about the look of the show of course (more on that later) but we also discussed what’s next for her line.
First off, while there was no official announcement, the brand name has changed to Deborah Lippmann as opposed to Lippmann Collection. The nail polish packaging is different as well. The white and blue paper boxes have been replaced with clear acetate so the gorgeous bottle and color are no longer hidden on display shelves. For Spring 2010 Deb created a duo of soft pretty cremes named I’m Not Innocent (semi-sheer) and Waking Up In Vegas (opaque). CND Monday – Day 5 of the ALU NYFW NOTD Challenge
Welcome to CND Monday, a regular series here on ALU. Each week I’ll be sharing a new layering combination from CND Colour & Effects to show you the versatility and creativity of the line.
With the exception of my unworn bottle of MAC Studded, the new matte polish from the Riveting collection, I actually completed my NYFW NOTD Challenge this season. I ended up getting something top secret and very special applied to my nails on Day 6 so that nixed my planned MAC mani. I’ll tell you about soon but in the meantime let’s talk about Day 5. As I mentioned at the beginning of the challenge I planned out my color according to the brand I’d be seeing that day. Since CND worked on 20+ shows throughout the week, every day could have been CND day but I chose Tuesday since they were working with The Blonds that night. The Blonds are known for their outlandish designs and over-the-top nail looks so if there was a day that green polish was in order, it was Tuesday. I could have just thrown on a couple of coats of Green Scene and called it a day but I wanted something a bit different. I chose to create my own version of a Jade gemstone using Cream Washed. Meet Ginger + Liz Nail Colour
Being the lone nail blogger at NYFW means that everyone either looks at my nails, hides their nails in embarrassment (I’m so NOT judging) or asks me about different polish brands. Well this season was a bit different because when I’d run into my blogging friends backstage the majority asked if I had met Ginger and Liz.
Ginger Johnson and Liz Pickett are the brains behind their eponymous polish line Ginger + Liz which recently had its retail debut at a Henri Bendel trunk show. Before this week I’ve tweeted and emailed with the duo but never actually met them. Well let me just say, these ladies are not only beautiful and charming but they have a fabulous sense of style and color.
