Golden Globes Nail Watch – Gabourey Sidibe

Gabourey Sidibe 67th Golden Globes Silver Nails I have yet to see Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire but from what I hear, Golden Globe Nominee Gabourey Sidibe, gives an amazing performance.  Considering how much the Hollywood Foreign Press tends to favor the new kid on the block, I was actually amazed that she didn’t take home a golden statuette last night.

In the sea of purple, black and gold dresses on the red carpet last night, Gabourey really stood out in her emerald green gown.  Though what caught my attention was the bit of bling on her tips that matched her sparkly clutch.  It’s a party after all, why not add some glitzed out glamour?

Celebrity Manicurist Kimmie Kyees was on hand to tend to Gabby’s manicure and she used a layering combo for maximum bling.  At first glance I thought she was wearing silver chrome Minx but instead Kimmie layered the glittery Essie Silver Bullions over metallic silver Essie Loophole.

Both Essie Loophole and Silver Bullions are available online at Essie.com and in salons including national chains Regis, ULTA and Trade Secret.

What do you think of Gabourey’s nail look? What would you have paired with that gorgeous shade of green?

alu-archives The ALU Archives focuses on older, beloved shades from the All Lacquered Up stash.Talking about Illamasqua’s new colors yesterday reminded me that I had never showed you one of my fave shades from their core collection, Phallic.  First of all, you gotta love the name.  Like my blogging pal Mel with her Penis Tuesday series, I love a fun penis reference.  I even won a knit, purple, penis-shaped lip balm holder (link NSFW!) from her site. The fact that Phallic is a stunning blue shimmer makes it all the better.  Check out the gorgeousness after the jump!

le-impressions-de-chanel-particuliere The palette for the Spring 2010 Chanel collection, Les Impressions de Chanel, is all about chic, wearable neutrals.  Creative Director Peter Philips wanted to honor Coco Chanel’s legacy of creating classic, timeless pieces with a wardrobe of color that never goes out of style.Included in the collection are three new Le Vernis nail lacquers including Particulière, Tendresse and Inattendu.  You may recall the frenzy that erupted when Particulière was spotted on the Chanel Spring 2010 runway.  We all wondered, is it a khaki, grey, mushroom, dusty purple, mauve?  Would it just end up being a You Don’t Know Jacques knockoff?  See for yourself after the jump!

Mannequin Hands is a new series featuring ALU Fanatics showing off their “mannequin hands” shade. The one polish that best gives that elongated, flesh-toned look to their hands.

Helen from Helen & Sheenie’s Nice Things is showing off her mannequin hands using OPI Barefoot in Barcelona which she describes as “a kind of dark, muted pink, with a bit of brown and salmon thrown in for good measure.” Since she’s not a MAC girl, Helen doesn’t have a skin tone description to include.

mannequin-hands-salvaged-expression Mannequin Hands is a new series featuring ALU Fanatics showing off their “mannequin hands” shade. The one polish that best gives that elongated, flesh-toned look to their hands.

Salvaged Expression has been getting crafty when it comes to her mannequin hands look.  Unable to find a decent flesh toned polish in her stash, she went to work frankening her perfect match.  But what makes her franken truly unique is the inclusion of powdered foundation.  Genius, no?  She used this franken to eventually find a ready made match in NYC Mulberry Street.  Learn more after the jump!
