OPI Euro Centrale Spring 2013 Nail Polish Collection Swatches & Review – Part 2

Last week we looked at the blues and purples in the OPI Euro Centrale collection so now it’s time to talk about the rest of the shades. A mix of red, pink, cream and metallic, these shades are a darker take on spring than we’ve been seeing from other brands.

According to Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP Artistic Director, “Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Romania make up an exciting new fashion hotspot. When visiting these countries, you’ll view Gothic churches alongside vibrant graffiti murals, blending two very different aesthetics.

This fusion of old and new was also seen in runway looks during New York Fashion Week, where classic styles were reinvented with modern silhouettes and patterns.

Whether you’re looking to spice up a black and white print, or add neutrality to a vivid brocade, these lacquers are designed to accessorize spring’s hottest looks.”

Essie Madison Ave-Hue Spring 2013 Collection Swatches & Review

By on March 27, 2013
in Blue, Essie, Gray, Green, Lilac, Pink, Red with 41 Comments

Essie founder, Essie Weingarten, is the quintessential uptown lady and while she may throw us a color curve ball from time to time, hello Luxeffects, she creates nail polish with the typical Essie woman in mind. Classic, fashionable, effortlessly chic, they are the type who tend to play it a bit safe with nail color on their hands but can rock a turquoise pedicure with the best of them.

My Fave COVERGIRL Outlast Nail Polish Shades for Spring 2013

Back when I started college at the University of Cincinnati, I majored in Chemical Engineering because I excelled at math and chemistry but, like most teens, I had no clue what I actually wanted to do. Exploring my co-op options lead me to P&G because they kind of rule that town AND they make COVERGIRL. That’s when I learned that cosmetic chemist was a real, viable career option. Alas, I transferred out of the enginerd program before my first co-op quarter but, I still dream of mixing nail polishes in their labs.

At the time, COVERGIRL nail polish was, quite frankly, crap. It, and other drugstore brands, were just not cutting it with me so I became somewhat of a nail polish snob. Sadly, those stigmas stick with me to this day.

So, to say I was skeptical when COVERGIRL relaunched their nail line, Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss, would be an understatement. Regardless, I gave the brand a second chance and selected 5 Spring-ready shades from the 45 core collection colors to share with you.

Zoya PixieDust Texture Nail Polish Swatches & Review

The cynic in me assumed that all “textured nail polish” would be created equal. After seeing it happen with the mattes, crackles, foils, etc. it has become harder and harder not to pre-judge a trend or fad. Well, color me proven wrong. And all of you are to blame!

After reviewing the OPI Liquid Sand polishes, I kind of wrote off the whole textured nail look as different but kind of “meh” and then I started reading comments about how you prefer the Zoya PixieDust polishes. So, I decided to give this collection a whirl and I’m so glad I did. Pat yourself on the back, Fanatics!

Through The Looking Glass with Rescue Beauty Lounge Black Russian

One of the biggest events of the year in the CLE is, without a doubt, Jump Back Ball. It’s an annual charity event held at Playhouse Square to benefit the not-for-profit performing arts center and all their community education programs. Comprised of six theaters, Playhouse Square is one of the largest performing arts centers outside of NYC. Just one of the reasons I feel very lucky to live in this city.

Each year Jump Back Ball has a different theme and for its 21st birthday it was, “Through The Looking Glass.” Can you think of anything more fun than an Alice In Wonderland themed ball? Being that this was my first time attending, I was ecstatic. Of course that means finding the right dress/shoes/accessories and coming up with a hair, makeup and nail concept. Oh what fun!
