cnd-silver-gold-sparkling-effects-holiday-2010 Have you missed me Fanatics? I’ve missed you. This ALU post outage was brought to you by the letters “T” “W” and “C” (Time Warner Cable). Apparently my modem was so ancient the tech was amazed it still worked. Obviously TWC can’t say “I’m right on top of that Rose.” a la Christina Applegate in Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter’s Dead.

Venting aside I have a fun holiday item to share with you from CND.  If you haven’t picked up the vibe already, Holiday 2010 is one big old glitter party. And in the case of the CND Silver & Gold Sparkling Effects Duo, all that glitters IS gold (and silver).  These two limited edition Effects, one cool & one warm, are sure to add the right kick of glam to your holiday manicures.

This set is just one of the many prizes included in the Think Pink – Donate & Win Giveaway so keep reading for a glimpse at what you could win.

nars-vintage-nail-polish-2010-zulu Last year when NARS released its Vintage Nail Polish Collection you could probably hear my heart breaking for nail fanatics around the world.  Where was Zulu?  What about Mash and Midnight Express?  Was I the only one with a fondness for Ziggy and Platoon?

Well I’m happy to see that in the NARS Vintage Nail Polish Collection 2010 they brought back three beloved shades and two I was previously unfamiliar with, King Kong and Full Metal Jacket.

The question is, how do the re-releases stack up against their former incarnations?

Best Holo Ever – Nfu Oh 61 Can Take On Minx Hologram Nails

nfu-oh-61-aqua-base-nail-polish-bottles You guys, I’ve reached holographic nail nirvana thanks to Nfu Oh!

As you may remember I received my first Nfu Oh haul a few weeks back and I’ve been dying to wear the holo, #61, but had to wait until the Aqua Base came back in stock.  Well my second order arrived on Thursday so naturally my weekend manicure choice was Nuf Oh 61!

I wasn’t sure what to expect based on the polish’s bland appearance in the bottle but on the nail, this baby can give Hologram Minx a run for its money.   Ever since Beyonce rocked golden holographic Minx at the Grammy Awards fanatics have been trying to replicate the look.  Well, consider #61 the silver version of those nails at a fraction of the cost.

OPI Swiss Collection for Fall 2010 – Part 1 Swatches & Review

opi swiss collection for fall 2010 bottles part 1 Outside of the movie Heidi, which has been remade way too many times, watches, banks and the Swiss Alps, I admittedly know very little about Switzerland. Which is why when I heard that OPI was releasing a collection based on the country I was skeptical as to what it would consist of.

Of course the OPI Swiss preview pics didn’t do these colors justice.  Why the large bottle images continue to look like artist renderings is beyond me.  Clearly they have a decent photographer to take the display shots, they should being shooting the closeups as well.

Anywho, about the colors.  I will admit that I was a wee bit disappointed to find that half of the collection is in the red family but reds are still a big seller in spite of a growing number of Fanatics making the more unique shades mainstream.  At least OPI has been recognizing this and in the Swiss collection we have been appeased with six shades from the blue, green, purple and metallic color families and that’s what I chose to focus on first.

China Glaze Vintage Vixen “Hotsy Totsy” Swatches & Review

china glaze vintage vixen hotsy totsy six piece set Goldie Hawn in Swing Shift, Joan Crawford’s signature brows, Dita Von Teese’s moon manicures, Cannery Row, Lauren Bacall’s wavy locks.  All these things dance through my head when I think about the 1940′s screen sirens and the look of that decade.

China Glaze has channeled that vibe into their Fall 2010 collection, Vintage Vixen.  Muted neutrals, vivid jewel tones and shiny metallics are all given the China Glaze twist infusing different textures to create some unique versions of old standards.
