ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Color Club Otherworldly
365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.Last night I watched the Hellcats season series finale and got a bit misty after hearing of its cancellation. DAMN YOU CW!! They usually give shows a chance if they ran all season long so, needless to say, I was a wee bit pissed over the news. I know it’s only a show but I really liked it. I hope to see the leads pop up on some new shows next season.
Today in support of the Lancer Hellcats, who wear bright blue cheer-leading uniforms, I broke out an in-your-face neon blue; Color Club Otherworldly from the Starry Temptress Collection for Summer 2011. For the past few years Color Club has cranked out some major neons for summer, with little tweaks to set each collection apart. The Starry Temptress polishes all pack a glittery wallop. |
ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Color-Block Nails with Orly Ancient Jade
365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.
Color-blocking was all over the Spring 2011 runways but being that my own personal style doesn’t really mesh with color-blocking, I translated the trend to nails. As much as I love how bright colors look on others, I tend to stick to neutrals when it comes to my own wardrobe. My nails are my color statement. Inspired by a dress I saw while online window shopping on Nordstrom.com, I incorporated Orly Ancient Jade from the Precious Spring 2011 Collection to create a color-block manicure. |
ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Perfect Color Cubist from Perfect Formula

One of the things I’m loving about this 365 series is that I’m getting to try new brands that I haven’t previously covered. Those of you who utilize the Labels tab (on the right) to access past posts, know that you can find every brand I’ve ever reviewed there. In the past 6+ weeks I’ve added quite a few new names to that list (Eyeko, Essence, Confetti, etc) and good, bad or indifferent it’s been fun exploring new-to-me nail territories. Today I continue that exploration with The Perfect Color nail polish from Perfect Formula. I first heard about the niche brand, that retails online via their website and QVC, last fall when they launched a seasonal collection with some very “me” colors like taupe, grey and teal. I chose to rock the first of those shades, Cubist, for today’s post. |
ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Topshop Utilitarian
365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.
I will openly admit that I was not part of the cool fashion crowd who squealed with joy over the news of Topshop opening in NYC. I remember seeing tons of tweets in the months leading up to the store’s opening and had no clue what the frenzy was about. I still haven’t been to Topshop in NYC so I still don’t get the hype but when I heard they were launching a makeup line that included nail polish I was intrigued. Seeing UK nail goddess Sophy Robson give the line her stamp of approval made the appeal even greater. I was fortunate to receive a couple sets of mini polishes to test out and being a lover of both green and what I call “pretty/fugly” shades, Utilitarian seemed like the perfect place to start with the line. |
ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Nfu Oh 570 & 52

Yesterday a reader posted on my Facebook wall raving about how amazing the famed holo Nfu Oh 61 is and blaming me for finally caving on a bottle. A blame I happily accept. Naturally that had me revisiting my Nfu Oh stash which contains at least 5 untried colors. What started out as a simple creme manicure with Nfu Oh 570 ended up becoming a full on sparkle-gasm involving Nfu Oh 52. Keep reading to find out why. |
