ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – BK Cracking Jade Green Crackle Nail Polish
![]() I’m sure you are tired of me saying, over and over again, that I’m not a big fan of crackle manicures. One of the main reasons I don’t like it is the way the new generation shatters. I loved the old school CoverGirl Crackle Lacquer with its subtle multi-directional veining. Not the thick, chunky shards that we’re currently seeing. Now last summer when I first wrote about crackle nail polish, I mentioned an etailer that sold another type of crackle called BK Cracking. I ordered a bunch but when I received them, the polish flaked off so I thought they were duds and threw them to the wayside. THEN, the clouds parted, birds sang and I saw the light thanks to Styrch from Pretty In Dayton. She posted about a crackle polish called Kelier and thanks to her application tips I was able to get the BK Cracking to work. Check it out! |
ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Zoya Kimmy from the Sunshine Collection for Summer 2011
![]() “We’re having a heat wave, a tropical heat wave” I don’t know what the weather is like in your part of the world but right now if feels like Cleveland is on fire! Maybe I’m overreacting just a touch, or a LOT, but I don’t work well with extreme temps. You know how most people either fall into two categories, “freeze baby” or “little heater”, I’m neither. I think I’m part reptile or something though heat effects me more drastically than the cold. I turn the color of a beet in high heat. I even have to ask for cool water to be added to the pedicure tub to avoid my feet turning the color of cooked lobsters. Since I’ll undoubtedly be a crimson, not golden, goddess while these extreme temps continue, I may as well join the fiery party with a scorching hot nail polish shade. Today’s selection is Zoya Kimmy from the Summer 2011 Sunshine collection. |
ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – LCN Magnetic Nail Polish
![]() Of course, Le Magnetique was a US limited edition which upset international fanatics, rightfully so. Then L’Oreal (Lancôme’s parent company) decided to release a special European version of Le Magnetique under the L’Oreal brand in a wider range of colors which upset the US fanatics, rightfully so. That brings us to today. We haven’t heard a peep about magnetic nail polishes in the US since the Le Magnetique craze and it was almost as though we forget they ever existed. But now, thanks to LCN, we have a whole new set of magnetics to play with and a new design pattern. |
ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Ozotic 513 Holographic Purple
![]() This weekend has left me drained but in a good way. Yesterday I had the privilege of attending an amazing event, the Veggie U Food & Wine Celebration, and today I spent a good part of the day outside helping the boyfriend clean and seal our deck in preparation for our Un-Xmas in July party next weekend. Can you say Christmas Ale on tap in the keg fridge? I never knew wielding a deck brush could leave me feeling so spent. Anyway, since I knew I would be outside on a farm yesterday, I decided to wear a polish that would play with the sun. You know what that means… it’s holo time! I recently received a package from piCture pOlish with some Ozotic Pro nail polishes, an Australian brand I’ve been wanting to try for years now. One of the three shades was Ozotic 513, a purple holo, and I couldn’t wait for the right moment to don it. Yesterday was it! |
ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Essie Da Bush from the Resort 2011 Collection
![]() I’m all for odd colors but in the bottle, Da Bush, did nothing fore me. Even the name turned me off. So all this time it’s sat in one of my untrieds bin, taunting me. I could almost hear it saying, “Just give in. You know you’re going to love me.” Well, we’ll just see about that! |
