ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Milani Pink Out Loud Nail Polish
365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.
Over the weekend I went to a party where quite a few of my blogger friends were in attendance. Of course I asked about my nail polish and I was curious to find out what they were wearing as well. Then the subject turned to my Untrieds series, specifically the “SHARE” polishes. They were giving me a hard time about the fact that I keep STASHing my untrieds and sent a small percentage to the SHARE bin. The reasoning I shared is that, for the most part, I’ve been trying polishes based on my color mood rather than dig in to the pinks and reds where I know a lot of my SHAREs will come from. Starting with today’s untried, Milani Pink Out Loud, I vow to suck it up and start weeding through my pinks and reds, making sure I include at least one per week for the rest of the 365. I guess this means I’ll have to organize them better. If there’s anyone in the CLE with a good eye for color who wants to help, I sure could use it. |

When Chanel Riva came out this past spring, I was less than thrilled with it. The sheerness, the lack of sparkle or uniqueness. It just didn’t live up to the Chanel reputation or cost. When I spotted Sally Hansen Barracuda from the Tracy Reese for Sally Hansen Spring 2011 collection, I immediately thought of Riva and thankfully it comes with a more affordable price tag. |
ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – 4th of July Manicure with Milani One Coat Glitters
365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.
To celebrate Independence Day in the US, I decided to get my red, white & blue sparkle on. I even planned to get all crafty incorporating scotch tape and the result ended up being one giant mani-fail! Of course, instead of getting down on myself for it, I’m learning from my mistakes and sharing my missteps with you. To create today’s look I went straight for my Milani One Coat Glitters in Red Sparkle and Blue Flash. When you want full-on sparkle without multiple, thick layers of polish, look no further. It’s just a shame they didn’t come out with a white version to complete my manicure. In order to conserve my favorite white sparkler, China Glaze White Kwik Silvr, I pulled out another untried, China Glaze Cloud Nine from the Specialty Glitters collection. |

I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend. With the exception of a fierce late night thunderstorm, the weather has been hot and beautiful in Cleveland. Speaking of Cleveland, a reader asked me to recommend places to visit while she is in town so I created this map of my favorite places. If you are planning to visit the CLE, I highly suggest you check it out. Getting back to nails, I read on Twitter that Cult Nails is having a sale this weekend for the 4th of July. All nail polishes are on sale for $7.40 through tomorrow (7/4). Maria from Cult Nails also tweeted that there is very little stock of Let Me Fly from the A Day At The Races collection so I wanted to show it to you before it sells out. |
ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Zoya Mira from the Summertime Collection
365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.
Independence Day is on Monday so it’s a holiday weekend here in the US and one of my favorite holidays of the year. It’s not that I’m ultra-patriotic, though I do love my country, I just love the fireworks, cookouts and parties that the weekend tends to bring. One of my blends (blog friends) is having a birthday/housewarming/4th of July party and my neighborhood is having a block party so the weekend should be lots of fun. I’m sure the boyfriend and I will catch a movie at some point as well. I REALLY want to see Midnight In Paris. I recently purchased a grey jersey top with some lace details on the sleeves that I adore so I decided to pair it with a fun purple polish. I’ve been curious about Zoya Mira from the Zoya Summertime collection and since I’ve been on such a glitter kick of late, I thought a gorgeous, glossy creme would make for a nice change of pace. |
