PinspiratioNAIL – Retro Polka Dots with Physician’s Formula Endless Color
When it comes to polka dots on nails, I tend to be pretty straightforward in my looks. Partly because it’s easy (and I’m no nail art savant) and partly because I’ve just never had the creative vision to come up with something totally unique. I blame my left-sided brain. I’m much better at riffing (not ripping) off what others have come up with, which is why PinspiratioNAIL was born.
I keep playing with the idea of dots inside dots, dots layered over dots but a lot of my practice designs have come off flat. Then I came across this graphic, retro-inspired design from My Awesome Beauty and my motivation kicked in. Having recently received the new Physician’s Formula Endless Color Custom Nail Trios, to test, it seemed like the perfect time to give this three color design a try.

14 Punk-Inspired Nail Art Looks from Last Night’s Met Gala
Celebrities, models and the fashion elite donned their punk-inspired best last night at the Met Gala, a fundraiser for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The annual party celebrates the theme of the spring exhibit and this year it’s PUNK: Chaos to Couture, opening to the public May 9th.
The exhibit examines punk’s influence on high fashion, so if any event was going to bring the nail art, hardcore, it would be this one. Considered the “Oscars of Fashion”, the Met Gala was definitely not lacking in nail drama. Some of the world’s most sought after manicurists brought their A-game last night. Let’s take a look!

Blue Ombre Nail Art for Autism Awareness Month
Kids may not be in my life plan but I know mothers, like my friend Sara, who have children on the Autism Spectrum. And even though it’s a fictionalized account, I cry on a weekly basis watching Parenthood and the struggles Christina and Adam deal with in raising their son Max with Asperger Syndrome.
April is Austism Awareness Month so in support of the daily challenges the mothers of autistic children face and to bring awareness to the cause, I polished my nails in a blue ombré manicure. With so many fun blues released for spring, it was hard to narrow down my selection. I wanted to show you colors I haven’t swatched yet so I chose Nails Inc. Chelsea Physic Garden, OPI OPI… Eurso Euro and Revlon Brilliant Strength Mesmerize.

Mani Monday – Fishtail Braid for Easter with Dermelect “Fearless Beauty” Collection
It’s April 1st, aka April Fool’s Day, and it also happens to be Dyngus Day, which even though it’s celebrated in Cleveland, I had never heard of until the Anderson Cooper giggle-fest last year. So whether you’re pranking your friends, spraying girls with water, hitting boys with pussy willows, or trying to avoid a “case of the Mondays”, I hope your week is off to a good start.
This is just a quick Mani Monday. I celebrated Easter with my family yesterday and when I decided to wear a bright color-block dress, I knew I had to switch up my nail look from the pastel fishtail braid I showed you on Friday. Enter, the Fearless Beauty collection from Dermelect, created by Celebrity Manicurist Elle and Fear No Beauty’s Karie Frost.
I used Fearless (cobalt blue), Moxie (bright, not chalky, pepto pink), and Renegade (jade) to create the look. The colors paired perfectly with my dress, shown above when I wore it to NYFW last September.
Since we don’t have kids and Mom finally stopped hiding Easter baskets, after doing it for 30+ years, Easter is pretty laid back, just an early dinner. But this year we stopped by the famous Eggshelland for a visit. I’ve never been and hearing this was the last year, I had to go. The display uses over 20,000 enamel painted egg shells and it’s quite a sight. If you’re in the CLE, they’ll have it up until April 5th so head on over.
The Dermelect Fearless Beauty collection will be available this summer so consider this an early preview with a full review closer to launch.
If you celebrate Easter, did you create a special manicure? Does your city have any Easter displays like Eggshelland? Have you tried Dermelect nail polish? What do you think of the new summer shades?
