3 Ways To Wear Cult Nails Casual Elegance Collection

Cult Nails Winter's Light, Intriguing and Casual Elegance

Purple has got to be one of my favorite shades to wear, period. In clothes, makeup, nails, etc. As much as I love green, and you KNOW I do, purple tends to be more flattering on me. So when I heard that Cult Nails newest collection was all about purple, I knew I’d love it.

Releasing in a very limited run (only 500 for pre-sale), I think of Cult Nails Casual Elegance as a capsule collection; three essential purples for spring in a range of finishes. And because the collection is sold with a set of Nail Vinyls nail art stencils, I’m showing you three different nail art looks you can create with the polishes.

Happy Mani Monday/St. Patrick’s Day! I don’t know about you guys but my weekend was made a whole lot better by the release of the Veronica Mars movie.

As a Kickstarter backer of the film, I’ve been not-so-patiently waiting for the return of this modern day Nancy Drew since last March. Though really, since it went off the air in 2007.

On Friday, I received my digital download of the movie and hosted a watch party with my fellow Marshmallows. I may or may not have watched it four times since then.

To celebrate the release of the film and in hopes that it does well enough to spawn sequels, I have a VMars-inspired manicure that, naturally, incorporates Essie Marshmallow. I mean, how could it not??

During the last #NailGlossip chat, where we discussed runway nails, I threw down the gauntlet to Jen of The PolishAholic and our guest co-host Kellie Gonzo to re-create a fave look from Fashion Week.

I’ve been scoping out the looks from NYC, London, Paris and Milan and the major nail art trends tend to lie with Moon Manicures, Non-Traditional French, Texture and Negative Space Nail Art. It’s the negative space designs that really caught my eye, especially the look created by Miss Pop Nails for Essie at Emerson by Jackie Fraser-Swan.

I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve been an Olympics-watching junkie this past week. I’ve been taping the live day coverage and watching the night coverage as well. I can’t get enough. And tonight is the start of my favorite event of the Winter Games, Ladies Figure Skating.

You may remember my interview with Olympian and COVERGIRL Gracie Gold where I showed you the nail art from her COVERGIRL photo shoot and the design she wore on the day of our chat. Well, to show my Team USA spirit, I’ve created a mash-up of both manicures to create one almighty Patriotic Nail Art explosion.

DIY Nail Art Tutorials

Confession: I’m not a DIY sort of gal. For instance, we specifically bought our house because we didn’t have to change a thing, besides a few paint colors. And any improvements we’ve made have been done by pros. I see friends reupholstering chairs in funky fabrics, stenciling their walls or jazzing up thrift store pieces with rivets, buttons, sequins, etc and I don’t have the slightest desire to do that.

For those reasons and more, when I heard this week’s Makeup Wars theme, DIY Beauty, I was hesitant. Yes, I dabble in nail art but it’s not my forte. I just don’t have the crafter gene. However, there are a couple nail art techniques I simply adore so I’m sharing them with you in hopes that if my non-Martha Stewart self can attempt them, so can you!
