Olympic Hopeful and COVERGIRL Gracie Gold Talks Patriotic Nail Art and Getting Ready for Sochi
I don’t know about you guys but I can’t wait for the Winter Olympics to begin. While the boyfriend will be all consumed with the hockey, I’ll be focused on the figure skating. I took figure skating lessons as a kid, thinking I could grow up to be Katarina Witt or Dorothy Hamill (ps I didn’t) and I can’t wait to see the latest crop of figure skating superstars hit the ice in Sochi.
I recently had the opportunity to speak with Olympic hopeful Gracie Gold who is part of the P&G Family’s Thank You Mom program and representing COVERGIRL in Sochi. Her next step towards Olympic Gold starts today with the kickoff of the US Figure Skating Championships.
We had a chance to dish on her plans for Sochi, how she keeps her face so flawless on the ice and, of course, my favorite topic, nails!
Holiday Nail Art for a Cause – Guest Posting on Work Play Polish for Polished Girlz
I’m so proud to be able to share with you a very special guest post series I’m participating in. Leslie from Work Play Polish invited me to be a part of her charitable mission to help support the work of Alanna Wall and the Polished Girlz. Leslie is featuring “festive” nail art from two nail bloggers a day and donating money to the Polished Girlz on our behalf, for a total donation of $250. Incredible, right?
You may have seen Alanna on The Ellen Show but, in case you aren’t familiar, here’s a little background on the organization this amazing 12-year-old founded. ps both Alanna and Leslie are fellow Buckeyes!
The Polished Girlz bring sparkle to the lives of girls with special needs or frequent hospitalizations by bringing the trendiest nail art parties to them, while teaching them the importance of hand washing to reduce infection rates and repeated hospital admissions. As an organization, the Polished Girlz seek to empower not only their clients, but their volunteers, by offering them opportunities to improve the quality of life, build invaluable leadership skills, and providing them with opportunities for community service.
In each post Leslie not only makes a donation but she highlights a specific need of the charity. Everything from nail polish to aprons to volunteers, etc. I have personally made a donation to Polished Girlz and I encourage you to do the same. CLICK HERE to donate via PayPal.
So head on over to Work Play Polish to see my nail art contribution and check out all the other incredibly talented bloggers in the series. Thanks again to Leslie for including me. So much fun for such a worthy cause!
Chanel Cosmic & Magic Le Vernis from the Nuit Magique Collection – Swatches & Comparisons
When Fashion’s Night Out was canceled in the US, I wondered what that meant in regards to the covet-able Chanel Fashion’s Night Out collections (Les Khakis, Les Jeans, etc). Then I saw that, in spite of the US bailing on the concept, they released the Chanel Nuit Magique Collection overseas with two gorgeous Le Vernis shades, Chanel Cosmic & Magic. I was one sad panda!
So, to say that I was beyond thrilled to discover that Chanel is releasing both nail polishes in the States, would be an understatement. Coming exclusively to Chanel.com on December 2nd, Cosmic & Magic are sure to put a crimp in your Cyber Monday budget.

New Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips for Fall 2013
When it comes to nail appliques, few brands can touch Sally Hansen and their Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips in terms of ease of application and wear. Being one of a handful of brands to use actual nail polish, the strips are thin and flexible, which means they conform to the nail and leave no ragged edges.
For Fall 2013, the Sally Hansen Salon Effects collection has a strong Asian influence. Everything from delicate florals to koi fish to metallic animal prints make an appearance in this collection, including a peacock-inspired pattern that I need to buy backups of, stat!
