I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve been an Olympics-watching junkie this past week. I’ve been taping the live day coverage and watching the night coverage as well. I can’t get enough. And tonight is the start of my favorite event of the Winter Games, Ladies Figure Skating.

Busted – The Worst Nail Advice I’ve Ever Heard
Last week I went out to dinner with a friend who told me about the ridiculous advice a “nail professional” gave her during a recent manicure. It was so unbelievable that it got me thinking about the other bad nail tips, tricks and facts I’ve heard over the years, from pros, beauty insiders and consumers alike. To be honest, some of them have been debunked so many times, it amazes me they’re still being told.
Makeup Wars – My Favorite DIY Nail Art Tutorials
Confession: I’m not a DIY sort of gal. For instance, we specifically bought our house because we didn’t have to change a thing, besides a few paint colors. And any improvements we’ve made have been done by pros. I see friends reupholstering chairs in funky fabrics, stenciling their walls or jazzing up thrift store pieces with rivets, buttons, sequins, etc and I don’t have the slightest desire to do that.
For those reasons and more, when I heard this week’s Makeup Wars theme, DIY Beauty, I was hesitant. Yes, I dabble in nail art but it’s not my forte. I just don’t have the crafter gene. However, there are a couple nail art techniques I simply adore so I’m sharing them with you in hopes that if my non-Martha Stewart self can attempt them, so can you!

Top Ten Tuesday – My Favorite Red Lipsticks
Even though I’m known for my general distaste for red nail polish, I adore a red lip. It takes a lot of effort to create a perfect red pout but it’s so worth it. When done right, it can light up your whole face.
Since my eyes are not perfectly almond nor round, they’re somewhere in between, I tend to play up my rather voluminous lips when it comes to my makeup routine. And nothing makes me feel more glamorous than a strong, red lip. So in this edition of Top Ten Tuesday I bring you my Favorite Red Lipsticks.

Regardless of what that silly rodent said yesterday, I’m refusing to give in to six more weeks of winter. Instead, after my vacation, I’m feeling refreshed and recharged and ready to dive into new spring colors.
After months of wearing dramatic darks and sparkly metallics, I’m yearning for something clean. But, you know I can’t just wear a nude on its own, I need to jazz it up. I took the new L’Oreal Paris Collection Privée nudes for a spin to create a muted, metallic marble effect. How’s that for alliteration?
