Mani Monday – Art Deco Nail Art with China Glaze for Jump Back Ball 22
Saturday night, the boyfriend and I headed downtown to Cleveland’s Playhouse Square for the 22nd Annual Jump Back Ball and we had a blast. At least what I can remember of it. I may have mixed wine, beer and liquor and that just may have resulted in a slightly fuzzy memory of the night not to mention the worst hangover ever, oy! Lesson learned… eat more prior and HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE.
Regardless of my alcohol intake, mistakes were made, I had a fabulous time with my boyfriend and friends at what is one of the best parties in Cleveland. And thanks to all of your fantastic suggestions, I rocked a manicure worthy of a Penny from Happy Endings “ah-MAH-zing.”

Get Your Shine On with A Very Colourfoil Manicure from Ciaté
In recent history, no manicure I’ve worn has garnered more compliments or sparked more nail conversations than the Very Colourfoil Manicure from Ciaté. Over the course of a week I had no less than five strangers inquire about my look in addition to friends who asked about it.
With the 80s resurgence we’re seeing, like the fact that perms are coming back (say it isn’t so!), it’s no wonder foils are having a moment. They started making their comeback at NYFW Spring/Summer 2011 when Celebrity Manicurist Pattie Yankee used them at Cushnie et Ochs and now, thanks to Ciaté, they are finding their way into the mainstream.
It’s funny, when I first heard of the foil nail art kit, I thought it sounded like a waste. I mean, why wouldn’t you just go out and buy nail foils on your own, right? Well, what I found out through my convos is, the majority of people either aren’t hip to the availability of nail foil or don’t want to hunt down the components individually. For the same reason that I love an eye shadow palette over putting together individual shades, lots of people prefer a kit that contains everything you need to create a look.

CVS Nail HQ, a Saran Wrap Manicure and a Giveaway, Oh My!
I don’t know what it’s like in your neck of the woods but in my part of the CLE, shopping for nail polish in drugstores can be pretty time consuming. On average I’ll hit up to 3-4 stores looking for specific seasonal displays or brands. Well, thanks to the new CVS Nail HQ, those days are over, people!
Rolling out to CVS/pharmacy stores across the country, the Nail HQ is a nail-focused kiosk that showcases the latest trends in color and nail products. You’ll find the newest releases from brands like Essie, Revlon, Sally Hansen and more including the CVS exclusive Nuance Salma Hayek line, not to mention a wide range of core colors.
To celebrate the launch of Nail HQ, CVS asked me to create a nail art tutorial for their Beauty Club Facebook page and they want you to get involved with a fun giveaway. Keep reading for the deets.

I’M BACK and getting my Ombré on with L’Oréal
*tap tap tap* Is this thing on??
Hey kids! I’m back from my way-too-long hiatus. Did you miss me? Because I really missed you. Like really really missed you! I know my absence has upset some of you and, believe me, that wasn’t my intent. Just know that it was necessary. To those of you who have sent emails, tweets and comments sharing your love and support, I can’t thank you enough. You are THE BEST!
As this post goes live I’m actually en route to NYC for New York Fashion Week. I’ll be reporting from backstage on all the fun nail happenings at the Spring 2013 shows. But don’t worry my pets, I have posts lined up so you’ll get your dose of new nail polish reviews in addition to NYFW updates.
While I was on break, L’Oréal Paris asked me to be a part of an ambassador program for their Colour Riche Nail line and guest blog for La Sélection, a digital magazine. One of the posts is a tutorial for a sponged ombré manicure. Ombré hair is so big right now, why not take the look to your nails? It’s so easy and fun.
I chose a summery, sunset inspired color palette for my tutorial but with Fall quickly approaching gray and purple felt more appropriate for NYFW. Starting with a base of Essie Pilates Hottie from the Yogaga collection, I sponged L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail in Greycian Goddess and Paprazzi Pleaser on top to create this look. For the full tutorial visit La Sélection.
L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Nail is available at mass retailers nationwide and retails for $5.99/ea for a .39oz bottle.
So are you into this ombre look? Have you tried this technique before? What colors, nail styles, trends are you loving right now? What is the one shade for fall you are obsessed with?
Disclosure: As part of the L’Oreal Paris ambassador program I received samples of Colour Riche Nail products. All opinions and statements are my own.
