About the 365 of Untrieds
Thank you everyone for your constructive feedback regarding the 365 of Untrieds. I really appreciate hearing what you want to see on ALU. At the end of the day I have to do what makes me happy but, I want, as much as possible, for all of you to be happy with the content I provide as well.
As I mentioned in the past, I started the 365 to end my blogpression and to better serve all of you. I felt I was failing you with my lack of consistent posting and the pressure I put myself under just wasn’t healthy. I wanted to find a way to get my blogging back on track in a way that I would enjoy. And believe me, I am really enjoying the 365 concept.
Here’s the thing though. Life gets in the way sometimes and as much as I wish I could be that person who blogs every single day for a year, clearly it just wasn’t meant to be. So based on the initial feedback and my own blogging desires I have decided to continue the 365 of Untrieds but with some adjustments.
- The 365 will continue but I won’t beat myself up if something, like my upcoming trip to NY Fashion Week, or an unexpected issue causes me to miss a day or two. I won’t stop until I review 365 polishes from my “untrieds” stash. I’m going to include the number from now on so we can keep track together. Revlon Blue Lagoon was #114.
- I will only review “untrieds” that are not part of current collections and, for the most part, still accessible. (ie core collection colors, non-LE)
- I will resume collection reviews with the intent of posting at least one new collection per week. Something that both you and I want to talk about.
- I will post collection previews and news as they come to me
Does this sound like a good compromise? I just want to be up front with you so you don’t think some tragedy occurred if I miss a day of posting. I also don’t want to feel like I’m failing myself or all of you if I miss a day. I want this to be a fun experience for all of us.
ALU’s 365 of Untried – Sonia Kashuk Starry Night
365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.
Even though nail polish colors have essentially become seasonless, I think we will always gravitate, in some way, towards the more typical shades associated with each season. Brights for summer, darks for winter, etc. That being said, there’s something so refreshing about flipping the script mid-season by wearing a sky blue in winter, a la China Glaze Bahama Blues, or a sexy black in the sweltering heat of summer. That brings me to today’s untried, Sonia Kashuk Starry Night. When I originally acquired this shade last year I wasn’t feeling it. I was ready for fun Spring colors but now that the dog days are upon us, I’m loving the contrast. |
