ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Sally Hansen Gray by Gray

I’m blaming the rainstorms and overcast, cloudy skies on my apparent grey polish streak. I think this is the 3rd or 4th grey in the Untrieds and we’re only a month in. Hopefully sunny weather and fun brights are in my future because I am OVER this blech, fall-esque weather.

When the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure line debuted, I raved about the formula and its durability. It is, without question, my favorite drugstore brand. At first I questioned the marketing claims about ten day wear without base or top coat but my skepticism was easily shot down. If you missed my original test, check it out here. Today I’m wearing a shade from the line that I can’t believe I haven’t tried before now, Sally Hansen Gray by Gray.

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Dior Gris Montaigne

TGIF Fanatics! I hope you have fun plans for the weekend. I’m just hoping for some decent weather. I’m itching to grab drinks on a patio somewhere in town. Heck, I’d be happy to just sit on my deck and have a beer with the boyfriend. Do you hear me Mother Nature?

Anyway, when I posted my review of Dior Bond Street, ALU reader Serena asked if I could swatch Dior Gris Montaigne for her. Being that the polish was sitting in my untrieds bin I decided to test it a little earlier than I anticipated.  You see, I’m trying to alternate between different brands as much as possible but I’m happy to accommodate requests when I can.

They say it takes 28 days to create a habit, or break one. Today is Day 28 of my untrieds challenge and one of the reasons I started this project was to get over what I’m calling a “blogpression.” It’s not that I didn’t love polish anymore or talking about it.  It’s just that after four years I was feeling very mixed about blogging.

As much as I love all of you for reading, commenting, emailing, etc I was putting so much pressure on myself.  Wanting to fulfill every request and please everyone all the time made me avoid blogging.  I wanted to swatch and compare every polish that came out to every other polish that ever existed.  It’s simply not possible.

So thank you for the endless support and encouragement.  I’m happy that you enjoy the 365 of Untrieds as much as I do.  It’s made me enjoy blogging more than I have in a long time.  Now let’s move on with Orly Royal Navy.

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Dior Bond Street

dior-bond-street-nail-polish-le-vernis-bottle-365-untrieds 365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.

This spring Dior bucked the traditional pastels & florals of the season with their Gris Montaigne Collection, focusing on greyed hues.  It’s funny how just a year ago grey felt kind of “done” and yet here it is again, feeling fresh and new.

The Gris Montaigne Collection includes two nail polishes. One of them, the aptly named Gris Montaigne, was also part of an offshoot nail collection, City Gris, based on three fashion capitals; Paris, New York and London.  Gris Montaigne is joined by NY 57th and Bond Street which is my favorite of the three and the subject of today’s 365 of Untrieds.

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – butter LONDON No More Waity, Katie

butter-london-no-more-waity-katie-nail-polish-bottle-365-untrieds 365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.

The upcoming Royal Wedding is very polarizing. The Anglophiles are savoring every second of coverage that the nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton are receiving. Then there are people like me, who could care less. For the record, I’m not a complainer who wants to stop hearing about it. I respect that people care so I just tune out. What really bugs me though are the companies hawking products with their likenesses, imitations of the engagement ring, etc.

And of course there just had to be a nail polish. butter LONDON’s Nonie Creme paid homage to the Royal Couple with the shade No More Waity, Katie, based on a nickname given to Kate by the press. Being that Nonie is British and her nail polish creations all have Brit-themed names, I’m giving her a pass on this one. Mainly because the color intrigued me. If the shade didn’t sound special, I NEVER would have bought it.
