alu-archives The ALU Archives focuses on older, beloved shades from the All Lacquered Up stash.

As much as I try to focus on readily available colors for the Archives I couldn’t help myself this week.  I finally got my hands on one of my dream dc’d shades and just had to share it with you.  I mean if anyone will understand the excitement over finding a bottle of Essie Dominica Green on your doorstep, it’s all of you.

Back in the early days of the MUA Nail Board, when I still had time to frequent it, there were only a few of us “green queens” hunting down old HTF shades and they seemed easier to find.  Now it’s like the whole polish loving world has joined in, making these rare polishes even harder to find.  I had pretty much given up hope of ever finding Dominica Green on my own (I REFUSE to pay big money on eBay) when an extremely generous gift made its way to me.

See this treasure after the jump!

The ALU Archives – Models Own Slate Green

alu-archives The ALU Archives focuses on older, beloved shades from the All Lacquered Up stash. It’s time for another installment of the ALU Archives.  I’ve been reorganizing my stash, what a labor intensive project, and I came across a polish I’ve been meaning to share with you.  I’ve been on a greyed blue & green kick ever since I got my hands on the spring RBLs and there’s a blue-green stunner from Models Own that I just adore.

Mannequin Hands with OPI Sand In My Suit

Mannequin Hands is a new series featuring ALU Fanatics showing off their “mannequin hands” shade. The one polish that best gives that elongated, flesh-toned look to their hands.

The Mannequin Hands series continues on.  Today the Polish Hoarder shows off OPI Sand In My Suit and here’s what she has to say about it,

“I don’t know what made me buy this polish. I’m drawn more to bright, unique colors. I think I got it because it was like nothing I already owned. I’m so happy I did! It’s such a pretty nude color. How can a skin-toned color be pretty? It has tiny shimmers! In the summer, when my hands are much more tan, this color makes my nails pop from my fingertips! The shimmer reflects light like a string of pearls. It’s just gorgeous!”

Who else uses Sand In My Suit for the Mannequin Hands look? I hope the Polish Hoarder will let us know what her skintone is so you can possibly find your hand twin.

sakura-gradation-calgel-uv-gel-nails-nat Last February I had my first experience with what is now becoming a major trend in nails; Soak-off UV Gel Nail Polish.  You see my pal Heather Park from SeoulDiva had been raving for months about this NYC salon Sakura and showing off her wicked cool nail art designs using the CalGel brand of soak-off polish.  Heather has managed to get more than a few of her friends hooked on Sakura including MAC Artist Keri B. who has posted some her designs on Twitter. You can read about my experience and see some more CalGel designs HERE.

Since that time Fanatics have emailed asking about CalGel and the other brands of soak-off polish on the market, including OPI’s new Axxium product so I’m giving you the 411 on the whole soak-off phenomenon after the jump.

Mannequin Hands is a new series featuring ALU Fanatics showing off their “mannequin hands” shade. The one polish that best gives that elongated, flesh-toned look to their hands.

Gina from Prim and Polished is the subject of today’s mannequin hands.  Gina is a MAC NW30 and she chose China Glaze Seashell. This is what she has to say about it:

“I think it’s a great Mannequin-esque color. Perfect for work. A touch more peachy than nude but flattering I think.”

Are any of you Gina’s hand twin? Have you tried China Glaze Seashell before? If you have Gina’s coloring, what polishes have you discovered for that perfect “mannequin hands” look?
