ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Orly Bubbly Bombshell & Here Comes Trouble from the Orly Pin-Up Collection

orly here comes trouble and orly bubbly bombshell nail polish from the orly pin-up collection for summer 2011 365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.Dear Glitter Polishes,

Why can’t I quit you? You’re such a pain to remove that the dread sets in before the first stroke of polish hits the nail. Yet, like a magpie, every time I see a bottle I want to snatch it up and take it home to my stash. You’re clearly my crack because when the high wears off, I’m just left with thoughts of the removal process looming overhead. In spite of all that, I love you. And if loving you is wrong, I don’t want to be right.

XOXO, ALU

The glitter craving struck again when I spotted the display for the Orly Pin-up collection at my local CVS. The four piece collection includes two cremes that I barely noticed. My eyes darted straight to Here Comes Trouble (l) and Bubbly Bombshell (r). For today’s untrieds manicure I decided to combine them into one summery sparkle spectacular.

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday & I Know What Boys Like

deborah lippmann happy birthday nail polish and deborah lippmann i know what boys like nail polish summer 2011 365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.

It’s funny how my feelings about my birthday have changed over the thirty #$%$# years I’ve been alive. Growing up an only child, my parents spoiled the pants off me so it’s no wonder that I spent my teens and 20s turning my day into a week that was “all about me.”

When I hit 30 the world was ending, of course, and now that I’m more comfortable with that first digit in my age, I find myself not caring so much about the celebration as I used to. I just remember how lucky I am to have two amazing parents who think the world revolves around me (it does doesn’t it?), a boyfriend/partner who goes above and beyond to make my life complete and a wonderfully diverse cast of characters who are more like family than friends. And of course, I’m so so lucky to have all of you supporting me and sharing the polish love.

Today’s polish choice was a no-brainer since today is my birthday. Cue the fanfare, ha! I started off the month with a polish named Happy Birthday so it seems fitting to close it out the same way. This time with Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday and guest star I Know What Boys Like from the Summer 2011 color collection.

OPI Serena Williams Glam Slam France Swatches & Review

OPI is hitting us hard this May with THREE new launches; Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Blue Shatters and Serena Glam Slam! France. While I was expecting to want to tear right into the Pirates polishes I was taken completely aback by the two Glam Slam! Duos.

If you’ve read my previous shatter/crackle reviews you know I’m not all in on this look but the base colors in this collection really drew me in.  Unlike the Katy Perry collection that left me pretty indifferent, the polishes in this collection are Game.Set.Match. wins!

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – butter LONDON No More Waity, Katie

butter-london-no-more-waity-katie-nail-polish-bottle-365-untrieds 365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.

The upcoming Royal Wedding is very polarizing. The Anglophiles are savoring every second of coverage that the nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton are receiving. Then there are people like me, who could care less. For the record, I’m not a complainer who wants to stop hearing about it. I respect that people care so I just tune out. What really bugs me though are the companies hawking products with their likenesses, imitations of the engagement ring, etc.

And of course there just had to be a nail polish. butter LONDON’s Nonie Creme paid homage to the Royal Couple with the shade No More Waity, Katie, based on a nickname given to Kate by the press. Being that Nonie is British and her nail polish creations all have Brit-themed names, I’m giving her a pass on this one. Mainly because the color intrigued me. If the shade didn’t sound special, I NEVER would have bought it.

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Milani Silver Dazzle One Coat Glitter

milani silver dazzle one coat glitter nail polish bottle 365 untrieds 365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.

A few months ago actress Marilu Henner appeared on just about every talk show on TV to discuss her amazing memory.  She can remember every day of her life, down to the most minute details.  It’s absolutely fascinating to watch her speak about it.  While I’ve always considered myself to have a good memory, my ability to recall events doesn’t even compare.

So what’s my point?  Well as I was digging around for my next 365 of Untrieds nail polish, I discovered a CVS bag filled with Milani One Coat Glitters and as soon as I laid eyes on them, I flashed to the night I bought them.  It was unreal how I could picture everything about that night the instant my hand touched the bottle of Silver Dazzle.

It was a Friday in December, the night Black Swan opened in Cleveland and I had just left the theater to get gas.  As I waited at the gas station for my tank to fill I checked Twitter only to see a local Fanatic mention that CVS had displays of the One Coat Glitters out already.  There JUST happens to be a CVS next to the gas station and even though they were about to close I hightailed it over to scoop up one of every shade on display, including the Jewel FX glitters.
