OPI Holiday 2010 Burlesque Collection Glitter Swatches & Review
OPI partnered with the upcoming film Burlesque, starring Cher & Christina Aguilera, to create a set of blingtastic Holiday shades and six of the twelve polishes are all glitters.
No doubt the madness that the Alice In Wonderland glitters caused played a role in this collection’s creation. To this day I still get emails from readers trying to locate Mad As A Hatter and Absolutely Alice. Hopefully their needs will be satisfied with the OPI Burlesque Collection. I don’t know how many of you are movie musical fans but I am a proud fan so I’m definitely excited to see Burlesque. The mere fact that ALU Mom ingrained a love for Cher into me from birth is enough to get me in the theater regardless of who else is billed though I do think Christina Aguilera is extremely talented. I am sure the film’s music style will suit her voice quite well. |
Putting Nfu Oh to the Test – A NOTD with 568 & 56
What a weekend! I think I’m still recovering from a wine induced coma. The Vintage Ohio wine festival took place over the weekend and The BF and I hopped in a van with the neighbors to take part in an all day sampling of Ohio wines.
We’ve been going to this festival for the past 11 years and even though we’re there for the wine I still come home every year with a bag of kettle corn the size of a small child. Popcorn is my one true food vice and kettle corn is my Achilles heel. Anyway, I thought since I would be outside in the sun all day on Saturday, it was an excellent excuse for Nfu Oh Flakies!! I started a wear test using #568 (pictured left) & #56 (pictured right) last Monday but I anticipated having to take it off by Saturday. To my surprise it still looked so fantastic I only had to paint my swatching hand to match. Check it! |
Orly Cosmic FX Fall 2010 Collection Swatches & Review
2010 is turning out to be the year of texture. Satin, glitter, sequins, crystals, etc. have all been making a splash in the nail world. Orly has certainly stepped up their game with the Cosmic FX collection.
Combining natural rock minerals, crystals, and glass they have taken duo-chrome polishes to a new level. We’re talking the multi-dimensional love child of foil and duo-chrome. Each polish flashes multiple colors depending on the angle and how the light hits it. These are certainly not shades for the color shy. |
CND Night Factory Duo – Urban Oasis & Teal Sparkle Swatches & Review
Like your favorite pair of jeans, the CND Night Factory Duo of Urban Oasis and Teal Sparkle can take you from day to night based on how you wear it. The blue-green denim creme can be worn alone with a high gloss finish for a chic day look, electrified with Teal Sparkle for a night on the town, or sandblasted with a satin finish matte for a casual weekend look.
As I shared with you in previewing “The Look” for Fall/Winter 2010, CND was heavily influenced by the heathery blues, hunter greens and taupe greys as seen on the Marc Jacobs and Rag & Bone Spring 2010 runways. Those colors came together to form Urban Oasis. To pair with it, CND chose the largest of their Effects micas to create the illuminating Teal Sparkle. |
Deborah Lippmann Fall 2010 – Across The Universe & Bad Romance Swatches & Review
There ain’t no party like a glitter party cuz a glitter party don’t stop!
Are you ready to kick off the holiday weekend with a blingasm? I know I am!! I told you back in February that for the second half of 2010 Deborah Lippmann is hosting a glitter spectacular and it all starts with her Fall 2010 collection. I’ve always been a lukewarm Beatles fan. I own a few albums but I don’t live and die for them. Then the movie musical Across The Universe came out and I was smitten. Who knew Jim Sturgess could belt it out? The dreamy, mermaid-esque blue glitter baring the same name is a perfect fit for the trippy, lullaby sounding tune and the whimsical film. Meanwhile the black-based magenta glitter, Bad Romance, is both hard-edge and feminine much like Lady Gaga. |
