Spring 2009
Zoya Spring 2009 Preview – Twist
Regular readers know that typical Spring sheers, lights and nudes aren’t really my thing. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll wear something light as long as it’s unique which is why I’m happy to see that Zoya is taking the gray trend from Fall and giving it a Spring makeover. Zoya’s Twist collection includes lighter versions of my fall favorites (smoky blue, purple and gray) with a couple of pinks thrown in for the more traditional nail consumer. It’s like looking at the fall trends through a TV that’s had its brightness level turned up.
The Twist Collection is available for Pre-Order now on Zoya.com and includes matching Hot Lips colors Smoochie (sheer shimmering rose), Trendy (sheer shimmering soft peachy pink) and Limo (sheer shimmering silver white). Zoya Nail Polish and Hot Lips lip gloss both retail for $6/ea.
Twist Collection Colors:
Harley – soft shimmering gray
Jo – shimmering silver blue metallic
Malia – violet cream
Barbie – shimmering soft pink
Cassi – shimmering soft peach
Moxie – vibrant red plum cream
Chanel Spring 2009 Preview
Some of you may have already found Chanel’s Spring collection at your local counter but for those of you that haven’t been as fortunate, here’s a preview of what’s to come.
For Spring 2009, Chanel’s Global Creative Makeup Director, Peter Phillips, has created a “boho-chic” look. The collection includes two new nail lacquers including Django (beige pink), which was seen on the runways of Paris last September.
While delving through the house archives, Peter Philips, Global Creative Makeup Director for CHANEL, rediscovered gypsy dresses by Gabrielle Chanel. “The Gypsy is a heroine with very distinctive beauty codes,†explains Peter Philips. “After looking through the sketches by Mademoiselle Chanel, I also wanted to play with all of these contrasts. The gypsy’s eyes are as dark as her lips are fiery. She has the passion of travel in her veins, that of celebration, dance, and especially that of darkness and mystery.â€
I was wondering when we’d finally see a purple nail from Chanel and Vendetta (dark violet) is the answer to that question.
Now I don’t know about you but I’m a sucker for packaging so when I saw the LÈVRES SIGNÉES CHANEL Satin Lip Colour, I just about died. Who wouldn’t want to pull that from their purse and just stare?
It’s CHANEL lip colour as you’ve never seen it. Five lush satin lip creme shades, from pale pink to deep plum, form the legendary double C signature in a black lacquered case. Complete with a rich velvet pouch and brush applicator, the compact is the epitome of glamour.
The Chanel Spring 2009 is scheduled to hit counters in January ’09 but it’s already been popping up on counters around the country. Chanel LE VERNIS Nail Colour retails for $23 and the LÈVRES SIGNÉES CHANEL Satin Lip Colour retails for $60.
NY Fashion Week Nail Watch – Tracy Reese Spring 2009
Tracy Reese and Sally Hansen have done it again. Season after season, they continue to wow me. This is her sixth collaboration with Sally Hansen, the fourth for the Salon line of polishes.
For Fall 2008 Tracy’s weather and nature themed collection brought us great earthy, dusty, vampy shades. For Spring 2009 she is looking at nature from a floral perspective, pulling together vibrant tones and sweet, watercolor pastels to create a unique and colorful palette. I just know this release will cause nail fanatic hysteria. I see drugstore stalking in the future for many of us when these pretties hit shelves next year.
Continuing the warm metallic trend we’re seeing at Fashion Week, Tracy chose Tassel, a honey gold, to compliment her designs. On each model’s nails the Sally Hansen team applied a coat of Age Correct Strength to provide a smooth even base, one coat of color and a layer of Speed Shine 10 Day Top Coat for the perfect glossy finish.
Thank you to my friends and fellow bloggers Jamie from The Beauty of Life and Janice from Specktra Beauty News for granting All Lacquered Up exclusive use of their backstage images and info.
