Treat Yo’ Self – Chanel Taboo Le Vernis Review, Swatch and Comparisons
As Tom and Donna from Parks and Recreation say, Treat Yo’ Self Day is the, “Best Day Of Year!” It’s a day to splurge on the those things that are outside your normal budget; facials, designer handbags, totally impractical shoes, expensive meals, etc. Since that episode aired, every time I go to make an extravagant purchase and question whether I REALLY need it, I hear Tom in my head saying, “Michelle, treat yo’ self!”
You see, I was raised a frugal barganista (thanks Mom!) so it takes a lot for something to be worth its full price tag. In this new series I’ll be sharing the nail polishes and products that I are consider fitting of a Treat Yo’ Self Day indulgence.
Even though I’ve been avoiding dark nail polishes this spring, I could not escape the mystical allure of Chanel Taboo.

OPI Euro Centrale Spring 2013 Nail Polish Collection Swatches & Review – Part 1
Get your passports ready for we’re off on a European adventure. No, not with the Griswolds, though I would totally tag along with Clark, Ellen, Rusty and Audrey. Instead, OPI is whisking us away to far off places with the OPI Euro Centrale collection for Spring 2013.
OPI has a long tradition of selecting countries or regions for their semi-annual seasonal collections (Australia, Chicago, South America) and although they’ve done Europe before (2002) this time they are focusing on countries in the middle of the continent; Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland. I’ve broken down this collection of twelve shades into two parts and knowing the love I have for blue and purple nail polish, a close second to my undying devotion to green, reviewing these colors first is just a given.

Deborah Lippmann “Staccato” Speckled Nail Polish Collection Swatches & Review
Growing up, there were two absolute truths about the Mismas kitchen. There was always a bag of popcorn kernels in the pantry (Dad and I have a lifelong obsession with the stuff) and there was always ice cream in the freezer. It’s a truth that holds up to this day in my home, and it’s usually a chip flavor from Graeter’s. They make THE BEST chip ice creams in the world, trust!
So you can only imagine the squee moment I had over the Deborah Lippmann, ice cream-themed, Staccato nail polish collection.
She created the nail polish equivalent of Strawberry Chip (I’m Not Edible), Mint Chocolate Chip (Rockin’ Robin) and Cookies n Creme (Polka Dots & Moonbeams) ice cream! Combining soft pastels with shiny black glitter, Stacatto is a rocker take on pastel. Check them out!

PinspiratioNAIL – Fishtail Nails with the L’Oréal Paris Versailles Romance Collection
Okay, so I’ve never been one of those people who tears pages from magazines or uses the clever reminder tabs that come with Lucky when I see something I like. Instead, I’m the one who saves decades of magazines and then has to ransack them looking for that one thing, I saw that one time, that I now want, but can’t remember the name of. Brilliant system, eh?
Fortunately, there’s Pinterest and it’s been a revelation, and a giant time suck, for me. I credit Pinterest with changing my mind about nail art. Not gonna lie, I’d been drinking the nail art hatorade. When nail art took off, a lot of what I saw was too over-the-top for my taste. Seeing tons of it roll by on Pinterest has warmed my heart, though I prefer the simpler, more geometric designs. It also helped me find amazing nail art bloggers like Chalkboard Nails and Lucy’s Stash.
Over the past year I’ve been collecting nail art designs on Pinterest that I want to try someday. Well, today is that someday. I’m going to attempt to recreate my fave nail art looks in this new series PinspiratioNAIL. I’ll put my spin on an image I find on Pinterest. My first look is a Fishtail Manicure using the new L’Oréal Paris Versailles Romance nail polish collection.

My Fave COVERGIRL Outlast Nail Polish Shades for Spring 2013
Back when I started college at the University of Cincinnati, I majored in Chemical Engineering because I excelled at math and chemistry but, like most teens, I had no clue what I actually wanted to do. Exploring my co-op options lead me to P&G because they kind of rule that town AND they make COVERGIRL. That’s when I learned that cosmetic chemist was a real, viable career option. Alas, I transferred out of the enginerd program before my first co-op quarter but, I still dream of mixing nail polishes in their labs.
At the time, COVERGIRL nail polish was, quite frankly, crap. It, and other drugstore brands, were just not cutting it with me so I became somewhat of a nail polish snob. Sadly, those stigmas stick with me to this day.
So, to say I was skeptical when COVERGIRL relaunched their nail line, Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss, would be an understatement. Regardless, I gave the brand a second chance and selected 5 Spring-ready shades from the 45 core collection colors to share with you.
