ALU Updates
Morning all! I just wanted to make you aware of a couple updates I’ve made to the site. Nothing big, this is just a FYI.
New FAQ Page
I addressed some of your most asked questions on the sorely overlooked FAQ page. As much as I love answering your emails and comments, there are some inquiries I hear a lot so I wanted to give you a resource for those hot topics. Of course, don’t hesitate to contact me if you have a burning question.
New Contact Form
Speaking of emails… for some unexplained reason email is not my friend. Even if I add someone to my contact list, I still end up sifting through my overloaded SPAM box to find important emails, sometimes even responses to messages I initiate. So for the past few weeks I’ve been testing a new contact form and so far I’ve received every message, without a glitch. So if you’ve emailed me in the past and I haven’t responded, I sincerely apologize for the error and encourage you to try the new form. I may not be the speediest responder but I will get back to you.
That’s all for now kids but if you have suggestions for site improvements or feedback on any new/old features, please use the contact form to let me know.
Announcing The First Annual Golden Compact Awards
A few months back, I randomly mentioned a special project I was working on. Well, I can finally reveal the deets.
The Golden Compact Awards are the first beauty blogger nominated beauty awards. Jamie Sanders of The Beauty of Life, Lilan Duong of The Daily Cookie and yours truly co-founded The Golden Compact Awards to showcase the best in beauty.
Let’s face it girls, beauty bloggers and their readers are the true beauty fanatics. We scour the web, department stores and drugstores to find the newest products. We test and review them with brutal honesty. If anyone should have a say in what the best of the best is, it’s us. Well, now is your chance.
To determine our nominees, we formed an expert panel including two of the savviest beauty gals on the web, Amber Katz of Beauty Blogging Junkie and Carolyn Hsu of The Daily Obsession with Resident Dermatologist, Dr. Jody Alpert Levine weighing in on the skincare contenders. After months of testing products from the past year, we nominated the best in skincare, hair, makeup, body and nails for you to vote on.
I hope you all will help support the awards and cast a ballot. The polls are open from now until February 29th and as a special thank you, we are holding a giveaway!
One lucky voter, drawn at random, will receive a prize package filled with products from the finalists. Included are items from Barbar Hair Tools, China Glaze, Givenchy, Herbal Essences, Orly, philosophy, Prescriptives, Tommy Hilfiger Fragrances, Vera Wang Fragrances and much, much more.
So please, click here to vote and tell a friend!
High Tech Nail Art with Barbie b-nails
So I’m not really one for the whole nail art thing but this is AH-MAZING! Seriously, I’m all giddy over the idea. The folks at TalkingShopping.com went to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Vegas and discovered this gem from Mattel and Barbie.
What is it that I’m so excited about? Barbie b-nails, an inkjet printer that applies fun, girly nail art like the Barbie logo. Using a special non-toxic ink, designs are printed on the nail and protected with a special top coat.
Being that b-nails is a Barbie product, it will undoubtedly be marketed to little girls but as a long time Barbie fanatic, that won’t stop me from wanting one of my own.
To see how it works, check out video from the TalkingShopping.com team after the jump.
Look at some of the cool designs it can create.
Now this isn’t the first time I’ve heard of this type of technology, it’s just the first time it’s being made available to the everyday consumer. The Imaginail NailJet Pro is a similar product marketed to nail and beauty industry professionals. While Mattel hasn’t released a retail price for b-nails but I imagine it will be less than the Imaginail, which retails for thousands. |
So what do we think? Fun for all or just kids?
