ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – A Home Run Manicure with Zoya Sooki
365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.
Untried Day #118: This past Tuesday I was invited to the Cleveland Indians game for a special women’s event. I had the opportunity to sit in the Social Suite on Wahoo Women night which benefits the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign. Even though I’ve always been more of a football fan, there’s nothing quite like spending a beautiful summer night at a baseball game, sipping on a beer and snacking on peanuts (Cleveland’s own Peterson’s naturally). It’s the picture of Americana. And I have to give it up to the Tribe’s marketing team. They have really created something special with their Social Suite. Anyone who is active in social media can apply to sit in the suite, like the fancy people, for a night. The view and the accommodations in the suite are pretty spectacular. So what’s a nail girl to do on a night that is dedicated to both women and the Indians? A red, Tribe-themed manicure of course! I wanted the perfect Indians red so I looked to my untrieds and found Zoya Sooki and I paired it with CND Midnight Sapphire from the upcoming Fall 2011 “The Look” launch. It is a pretty good match to the team’s blue color. Keep reading to see how it turned out. |
Scenes from Cosmoprof – Scoping Out China Glaze Holiday 2011 & Spring 2012
Stopping by the AII Beauty booth at Cosmoprof North America, the premiere business to business beauty trade show, is like a visual assault. They own so many brands, including China Glaze, that it’s hard to know where to look first.
Thankfully, two of my fave people from the company, Amy & Anne, were there to walk me through. You may remember that eons ago, not really but it seems that long, I had the chance to meet the China Glaze team during a trip to LA. It’s where I got my first glimpse of the best green glitter to ever exist on the planet, China Glaze Emerald Sparkle. Get ready for your own visual assault courtesy of ALU as I bring you a look at the 34 new China Glaze polishes that will be released between now and January 2012. That’s right, I said 34. |
Scenes from Cosmoprof – A Look At Essie Holiday & Winter 2011
I recently attended the Cosmoprof North America business to business beauty trade show in Las Vegas and, as always, it was completely overwhelming, in a good way. Imagine an enormous convention center filled with rows upon rows of beauty brands, manufacturers, packaging companies, etc. debuting their latest products and innovations. I didn’t know which way to go first.
In years past I haven’t made it to the Essie booth. In part because they make it look so secretive with the surrounding walls. This year however, I met the adorable and charming Dominic and Melissa who took me on a tour of the upcoming Winter & Holiday 2011 collections. Sadly, Essie was not at the show this year but I’m sure I’ll run into her in a few weeks during New York Fashion Week.
Dominic, by the way, told me he reads my blog (so flattering) and when I playfully questioned him, he replied, “I know that you store your nail polish in IKEA Helmers!” How cute is that?!?
Let’s check out what Essie is bringing to the nail polish party in the upcoming months including some hints about SPRING!

ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – LCN Blue Laguna Nail Polish
365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.
Untried Day #117: I’m already declaring magnetic nail polish to be the new crackle and with LCN being the first out of the gate in the US, I’m sure it will put them on the map with consumers in the States. I met with the owners of LCN USA at Cosmoprof and I had no clue that the brand has been in the US for 20 years. What’s funny about that is I placed an order with a German e-tailer years ago and picked up a LCN polish not knowing it was available here. I didn’t even swatch or blog about it at the time because I know how hard it can be to get nail polishes from overseas outside of swapping. So now that I know that this color is accessible to both my US and European Fanatics, I figured it was time to crack it open. That brings us to today’s untried, LCN Blue Laguna. |
