ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Nicole by OPI Fresh Squeezed
365 of Untrieds is my personal challenge to weed through the polishes in the ALU stash that I’ve been wanting to try but just haven’t gotten around to.
Three years ago, Rihanna stopped traffic on the Grammy red carpet when she paired an electric blue dress with nails adorned in traffic cone orange, kicking off the orange nail polish trend of Summer 2008. Well orange is back people. It’s one of the biggest trends for Spring/Summer 2011 though this time around it’s more about brights than neon. I’ve worn a lot of orange polishes in the past so I wasn’t sure I would find anything that I haven’t at least tested on one nail and then I came across Nicole by OPI Fresh Squeezed. Fresh Squeezed came out last year when I was all up in my turquoise phase and couldn’t get into it but, its time has come. |
ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Zoya Julieanne

I’ve seen a few comments from readers saying they are disappointed that I won’t be reviewing new nail polish collections. I wanted to reassure you all that that isn’t the case. Just because I am launching this 365 project DOESN’T mean that I won’t be reviewing current collections. The Zoya Wicked collection launched in Fall 2010 as a set of six sparkling shades with names matching the Dancing With The Stars pro dancers. While the collection was pretty, only two colors really stood out to me, Edyta and Julieanne, a smokey olive green and jewel toned purple. Being that my favorite colors are green and purple, in that order, it’s really no surprise that those polishes called out to me. Alas, they’ve been sitting since Fall in my “to be worn” bin and haven’t received the love they deserve. Since I’m pretty season-less in my manicure choices I figured today is as good a day as any to give Zoya Julieanne a whirl. |
ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – Milani Silver Dazzle One Coat Glitter

A few months ago actress Marilu Henner appeared on just about every talk show on TV to discuss her amazing memory. She can remember every day of her life, down to the most minute details. It’s absolutely fascinating to watch her speak about it. While I’ve always considered myself to have a good memory, my ability to recall events doesn’t even compare. So what’s my point? Well as I was digging around for my next 365 of Untrieds nail polish, I discovered a CVS bag filled with Milani One Coat Glitters and as soon as I laid eyes on them, I flashed to the night I bought them. It was unreal how I could picture everything about that night the instant my hand touched the bottle of Silver Dazzle. It was a Friday in December, the night Black Swan opened in Cleveland and I had just left the theater to get gas. As I waited at the gas station for my tank to fill I checked Twitter only to see a local Fanatic mention that CVS had displays of the One Coat Glitters out already. There JUST happens to be a CVS next to the gas station and even though they were about to close I hightailed it over to scoop up one of every shade on display, including the Jewel FX glitters. |
ALU’s 365 of Untrieds – GOSH Golden Dragon

My friend Steph is married to a Canadian so they travel across the border quite often visiting family and since she is a fellow polish fanatic she asked me a while back if there are any brands she should look for. I immediately said GOSH. GOSH is a drugstore brand out of Denmark that I had only read about but never seen in person. At the time, probably a year ago, I had no clue GOSH shipped to the US and with no plans to visit Canada I asked Steph to pick me up a bottle of something “fun.” Knowing my penchant for green polishes she brought back this beauty, Golden Dragon. |
