CND at New York Fashion Week – Day 1 Giveaway
Thursday was the first official day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and CND worked with designers Jenni Kayne, Irina Shabayeva and Wayne. The looks of the day were grown-up grunge, chocolate velvet, and textured tough.
From a multi-layered neutral to a mattified vamp to architectural nail art, there was quite a diverse range of nail styles to choose from. See which design was my fave of the day and win the products used to create it. |
CND & ALU New York Fashion Week Giveaways
New York Fashion Week is off and running and this season I’ve teamed up with CND to bring you a week of fashion themed giveaways. As one of the foremost authorities on fashion forward nail styles, CND and its co-founder Jan Arnold have helped make nail color as much a part of each season’s fashion stories as the clothes themselves.
Beginning today I will be sharing the backstage scoop on the looks created by the CND team for each day of Fashion Week. I will select my favorite and put the polishes used to create that look up for grabs in a daily giveaway. Tune in every day after 8am EST for your chance to win. Just comment on that day’s post before Midnight EST to be entered in the giveaway. Sound fun? |
China Glaze Anchors Away Spring 2011 Collection – Sand & Sea Swatches & Review
I can’t begin to tell you how apropos it is that China Glaze created the nautical themed Anchors Away collection for Spring 2011. You see I grew up sailing. As a child I spent every weekend of my summers on my parents’ sailboat cruising the shores of Lake Erie. It was such a huge part of my life that even though I’m not exactly a fan of sailing (it can be boring), being on the water is an essential piece of who I am.
It’s always been part of my life plan to have a boat of my own to enjoy everything Lake Erie has to offer. The Lake Erie islands, the Sandusky Bay area, it’s all so beautiful and fun. This spring my dream of summering on a boat just may come true. The boyfriend and I are signing up for a safe boating course and starting to shop for our own floating home away from home which has me on an all things nautical high. I’ve been shopping for new deck shoes, conjuring up boat names, contemplating the boat themed manicures I’ll wear, etc. And after seeing a mani/pedi combo using the navy and orange cremes from this collection, I already know what is going on my nails first. But before we get into the bold Knotty Nauticals let’s take a look at the softer side of the Anchors Away collection, the Sand & Sea six piece set. |
Say Hello To The New CND Shellac Colors & Help Me Choose
New York Fashion Week begins on Thursday and I will be flying into NYC on Friday to cover the Fall 2011 backstage beauty trends. This is my 6th season reporting live from NYFW and it is just as much of a thrill as it was the first time I went. It’s such a privilege to be invited backstage and I just love seeing how nails play into a designer’s story and how it completes the look of their “woman.”
CND is a a pioneer when it comes to incorporating nails and fashion thanks to Co-Founder Jan Arnold. She is the reason designers consider nails an integral part of their overall runway look. Shortly after Fashion Week, CND will be launching their twelve new Shellac shades and while I’m in the city I’ll have to chance to wear one of them. That’s right, instead of doing my standard NOTD challenge, I’m taking the easy way out wearing Shellac. The problem I have is deciding on a color. There is one I’m leaning towards but I’m asking you to help me choose. |
