The Annual ALU Cleveland Blogger Charity Sale

Wednesday night I had the pleasure of hanging with a bunch of cool CLE blogging babes while raising money for charity and clearing out the ALU beauty closet. You may remember that I hosted a similar event last year benefiting my local Dress For Success. This year I decided to coincide the event with my Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, donating the money raised to Living Beyond Breast Cancer.

This past year a local blogger, Allison from Green Dog Wine started organizing regular blogger meet-ups and was kind enough to include me in the group even though we hadn’t met.  It’s been wonderful getting to know other women in the community who have a passion for our city and blogging.

I decided it would be fun to host one of the meet-ups and combine it with my charity sale.  It was a blast having everyone over for wine and snacks and watching them head to the basement to clean me out of product samples.

At the end of the night everyone went home with a bunch of new beauty loot to try and I raised $1,085 for Living Beyond Breast Cancer bringing the total amount raised by ALU to $3366. Amazing!

I couldn’t have done this without of the incredible support of my blogging community and friends so thank you to Alana from The Dawg’s Dish, Alexa from Cleveland’s A Plum, Allison from Confessions of a Cohabitant, Allison from Green Dog Wine, Charity from I Heart Cleveland, Heather from Mile 26 and more, Jocelyn aka @Legalesque, Michelle from Cleveland Foodie, Molly from Food n Such and Suzanne from Life on Mars.  And of course I have to thank my good friends Christine, Jen, Sandi and Steph for coming again this year and supporting my fund raiser!

If you want to check out some of their hauls click on over to
Cleveland’s A Plum – Cleveland Beauty Blogger Sale, Green Dog Wine – All Lacquered Up, Mile 26 and more - CLE Blogger Beauty Sale and The Dawg’s Dish – Girls Night Out: Blogger Beauty Sale. Of course the biggest haul of the night went home with my friend Steph who doesn’t have a blog. She needed an extra bag just to take everything home. Love it!

China Glaze Holiday 2010 – Blue & Greens Swatches, Review & Comparisons

China Glaze has definitely been Naughty AND Nice this year.  Nice for releasing so many cute holiday gift sets and a fun range of colors but Naughty for overwhelming us with so many options.

Unlike the past few years where they’ve released just a few holiday shades, for Holiday 2010 the ‘Tis The Season to be naugty and nice collection consists of 16 nail polishes.  That’s right, SIXTEEN!

To make it easier to take in, I’ve broken down the collection into its three main color families; Blue & Green, White, Silver & Gold and Red & Vampy.  We’ll start with my obvious favorite the lone blue (Little Drummer Boy), three greens (Jolly Holly, Mistletoe Kisses, Peace On Earth) and the multi-colored glitter bomb (Party Hearty).

A Manicure So Tough, Not Even NYC Can Wear It Down

As you know I was in NYC for Halloween weekend with the boyfriend and per my usual travel ritual I was up late the night before we left. I did actually get five hours sleep with is a record for me. Baby steps…

Anywho, as I tend to do, I gave myself a middle of the night manicure, procrastinating because I couldn’t decide on a color. Unlike my trips to NYC for Fashion Week, I wasn’t going to be changing my color daily so I wanted something that would not only last but go with every outfit I packed. Finally, around 2 am, I pulled out the polishes I bought the day before, determined to wear something new. Little did I know, the combination I ended up choosing would last me 7+ days with barely any tip wear.

Read on to see my manicure with Lancôme Les Rouge L’Wren and Deborah Lippmann Boom Boom Pow and check out some pics from my trip.

I’ve been bursting at the seams wanting to announce the results of this year’s BCA Month fund raising drive and the giveaway winners.  I am at a loss for words over the outpouring of generosity from the ALU reader community.

Together we more than surpassed my expectations and I’m truly thankful to each and every one of you for supporting my efforts to raise awareness and funds for such a worthy cause.

Your donations in the Think Pink – Donate & Win Giveaway raised $2,131 for Living Beyond Breast Cancer almost THREE TIMES what we raised last year.  And thanks to all your wonderful comments, I personally donated another $150 to the cause.  Together we donated a whopping $2,281 which is simply amazing.  Thank you so so much!

Now for the winners…

ALU Update – We’re back!

Now I have yet another reason to hate Halloween.  On Sunday afternoon, someone played an evil “trick” on me that resulted in malicious code being inserted into my site.  Trick or treat indeed!  For some of you, ALU still appeared but for others, all you saw was an Internal Server Error.  What fun!

It didn’t help that I was in NYC for a long weekend with the boyfriend while all this went on.  I want to thank all of you who sent emails, tweets and Facebook messages to let me know what was happening.  I would have been oblivious without your help!

I also want to give a huge shout out and hug to Ryan from 125mg Design.  He got ALU back up and running and was amazing to work with. Fellow WordPress bloggers, if you need tech support or design help, he’s your man!  Plus he’s married to a beauty girl, the talented MAC Sr. Artist Keri B, so he understands our kind of crazy.

I did lose my scheduled posts and any comments that were made over the weekend so please be patient as I get new content up for you.  Also, if you come across any errors, please let me know

In the meantime, how did you fare in the RBL sale? I was sitting on a boat headed to The Statue of Liberty as I tried desperately to place my order.  I ended up calling in a ringer to place my order for me.  Did you get everything you wanted?
