The hotly anticipated MAC Venomous Villains Collection is about to hit shelves and I have a feeling that it will be an even bigger hit than any of MAC’s previous collaborations simply because of the worldwide love for Disney.  Yes, Barbie and Hello Kitty both have huge fan bases but the mouse trumps them all.

The collection, broken into four parts, is based on famous Disney animated villains; Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians, Evil Queen from Snow White, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty and Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog.  Each mini collection reflects the look of that character with Disney providing the actual Pantone shades used in animation to help MAC design the color palettes.

Of course a collection like this must include nail color and three new shades have been included in the Maleficent set. Three foil, duo-chrome glitters named Bad Fairy, Formidable! and Mean & Green.

nars-vintage-nail-polish-2010-zulu Last year when NARS released its Vintage Nail Polish Collection you could probably hear my heart breaking for nail fanatics around the world.  Where was Zulu?  What about Mash and Midnight Express?  Was I the only one with a fondness for Ziggy and Platoon?

Well I’m happy to see that in the NARS Vintage Nail Polish Collection 2010 they brought back three beloved shades and two I was previously unfamiliar with, King Kong and Full Metal Jacket.

The question is, how do the re-releases stack up against their former incarnations?

Random NYFW SS 2011 Moments

nyfw-ss11-random My week in NYC was such a whirlwind that I’m still processing it all.  It goes by in a flash and then I’m standing at the airport with a camera full of images and no clue what I saw.  It always takes me a few days after I get back to decompress and put all the pieces together.

So while I’m compiling my backstage coverage, I thought I’d share some pics from the rest of my trip.  You know, those hours when I’m not crammed in a tiny space with every beauty blogger, editor, model, makeup artist, hairstylist, manicurist and publicist in NYC.  A lot happens in those off hours including a few reality star sightings, meet-ups with friends and fun nights out.

ALU NYFW NOTD Challenge SS11 – Day 7

nyfw-notd-challenge-nfu-oh-528-55 Initially there wasn’t going to be a Day 7 in my NYFW NOTD Challenge.  Even though I was in NYC for seven days I purposely didn’t schedule any shows or meetings for the last day so I could wander the city.  Every time I go to NYC for blog business I pack my schedule so full I never have time to just explore and I made sure to leave time for that on this trip.

Then I got a call from my pal, Celebrity Manicurist Elle, on Day 6 inviting me to come visit her on a photo shoot.  You don’t have to ask me twice.  Naturally I was curious to check out her kit and see what she brings to a shoot.  While I was there, Elle offered to give me a manicure and I couldn’t pass that up.  When she started dragging out her Nfu Ohs and playing with different layering combos I knew I was in for something fun.  Check it!

ALU NYFW NOTD Challenge SS11 – Day 6

in CND, NY Fashion Week S/S 11 with 32 Comments
cnd-jason-wu-collection No, I didn’t forget how to count, there is no Day 5 in my NYFW NOTD Challenge.  Day 5 was my NAIL FAIL day as I didn’t meet my own challenge to change my nail color daily.  The best part, I was totally called out on it by my blends (blogging friends) Amber & Kristen.

Though Amber is partly to blame for my failure as I was out having a few too many adult beverages with her and Nance the night before.  The last thing I wanted to think about at the end of the night was changing my polish.

So with Day 5 behind me I couldn’t resist breaking out the CND Jason Wu Collection for Day 6.  Being that I wasn’t able to attend the show I couldn’t get my hands on one of the special sets gifted to attendees but CND Co-Founder and Creative Director Jan Arnold was extremely generous, giving up her own personal set to me.  Can you even?
