Chanel Les Khakis De Chanel Nail Polishes for Fashion’s Night Out
Les Khakis De Chanel Le Vernis in Khaki Brun, Khaki Vert and Khaki Rose
We’re only one day away from Fashion’s Night Out and with that comes the launch of the Chanel limited edition Les Khakis De Chanel collection. Like last year’s sellout hit, Jade Nail, Chanel Global Creative Director of Makeup Peter Phillips has yet again celebrated one of the biggest nights in fashion with a green nail polish. Big hugs and kisses to Mr. Philips for that!
The military influence is strong in fashion this season so it’s no surprise to see camouflage type colors trickle over into makeup and nails. I was fortunate to receive an advance preview of the nail colors prior to their launch this Friday so I had a little fun with the whole camouflage theme trying my hand at a bit of nail art.

ALU’s Top 29 “Must See” Fashion’s Night Out Events
I’m leaving for NYC in less than 24 hours for New York Fashion Week and in addition to finalizing my schedule and packing, all I can think about is the overwhelming number of Fashion’s Night Out events. Last year I missed FNO so I’ve been trying to figure out which events I absolutely must hit. I’m sure those of you who live in NYC or will be in the city on Friday, September 10th are facing the same dilemma.
From what I’ve heard, the department stores and Sephoras with celebrity appearances will be insane so I’ve vowed to avoid that madness. I’d much rather sidestep the crowds and hit some of the more unique experiences FNO has to offer. I’ve pared down the list of 900+ events to my Top 29 beauty related Fashion’s Night Out happenings. |
Get The Nail Look – Rihanna in the “I Love The Way You Lie” Video
A few days ago ALU reader Casey contacted me asking about Rihanna’s intense red nails in Eminem’s “I Love The Way You Lie” video. The flaming hue that matched her colorful hair definitely stood out against the fiery backdrop.
You couldn’t help but notice her nails and I LOVE that she worked them in the camera giving us all an up close look. Of course the woman responsible for this look is none other than Celebrity Manicurist Kimmie Kyees. She’s Rihanna’s go-to gal and, as always, her work was spot on. Curious about what she used?

Chanel SoHo Story Collection & Fashion’s Night Out Events
To celebrate the reopening of the CHANEL Boutique in SoHo, CHANEL Global Creative Director of Makeup Peter Philips has created a limited edition collection that echoes the spirit of SoHo. “For me, SoHo is a place where Bohemian ideals meet the toughness of the city… I love the tension and energy this creates.” says Peter Philips.
Quite a few of you have asked me about these LE nail colors launching exclusively at the Chanel SoHo Boutique on September 10th for Fashion’s Night Out. I’ve been awaiting official word regarding the release before saying anything. Similar to the popular Robertson Boulevard Collection, these colors were created to celebrate the launch with a very specific theme in mind.
The SOHO STORY Collection is a study in extreme contrasts, partnering feminine pinks and roses with strong, industrial metallics. From pretty cheekbones to anthracite nails, tender creams and flashes of metal simultaneously reflect and contradict each other. “I had a specific girl in mind who is both hard and soft. A girl who discovers a new city, a new life.” adds Peter Philips. “This is a very special kind of New York woman. She is innocent, but she has a steely determination that fuels the city.”
The collection’s SOHO DE CHANEL Exclusive Creation reflects a Pop Art influence. Stamped with the four letters of SoHo, this silky powder comes in a delicate palette of shades and, when dusted across the face, creates a subtle, natural glow.
The nail colors retail for $25/ea and include a charcoal gray, Steel, and red grape, Strong. They will be joined by a Quadra Eye Shadow, Rouge Coco lip color, Rouge Allure Lacque, Glossimer and the SoHo De Chanel powder mentioned above.
The collection will be on sale on Chanel.com on Tuesday, September 7th while the in store release will coincide with the Chanel Fashion’s Night Out events happening at Chanel boutiques all over the country.
On September 10th, select Chanel Boutiques will have a Nail Bar available offering manicures with the Les Khakis De Chanel collection. Stop by the SoHo, Bal Harbour, Beverly Hills, Dallas, Ala Moana and Wynn (Vegas) boutiques to get a Chanel manicure and celebrate one of the biggest nights in fashion.
I’ll be stopping by the SoHo boutique on September 10th so if any of you NYC Fanatics plan to be there, let me know. Maybe we could make an informal meetup happen.
China Glaze Holiday 2010 Sneak Peek
Look what I found! It’s a few swatches from the China Glaze Tis The Season To Be Naughty or Nice Holiday 2010 Collection. I was getting out my luggage in preparation of my trip to NYC next week for Fashion Week and I found this wheel in the front pocket. I can’t BELIEVE I forgot it was in there.
When I met with reps from China Glaze I was allowed to swatch some of the polishes on a nail art wheel to take home with me and I feel like a total absent minded professor for leaving it in my bag all this time.
Party Hearty, Mistletoe Kisses, Cheers To You, Mrs. Claus and Jolly Holly
I’m totally smitten with Mistletoe Kisses. Unlike a lot of minty polishes that seem to be trying to knock off Chanel Jade, this has a unique iciness to it thanks to the silver shimmer. I see it becoming my go-to shade this winter.

So which shades are you dying over? I know it seems crazy to be talking holiday already but these will be on shelves before you know it. All I have to say is STAY AWAY SNOW!
