Sally Hansen Midnight in NY and Hidden Treasure
Last September during NYFW, Sally Hansen unveiled their new Complete Salon Manicure line and the Tracy Reese for Sally Hansen Spring 2010 Runway Collection. Two of the shades, Midnight in NY and Hidden Treasure were layered to create the nail look for the show.
I’ve already beyond raved over the Complete Salon Manicure formula when I wore it during my NYFW NOTD Challenge so I’ll spare you my gushing but wonky brush or not, this polish wears like iron. And the combination of Midnight in NY and Hidden Treasure is not only gorgeous, it resembles a certain hard-to-find polish that many of you hunted for last fall. Fanatic Feedback – Matching Nail Colors to Clothes?
With Easter coming up this weekend, I started thinking about what I’ll wear to dinner with the folks on Sunday and, of course, what nail polish to choose. I was surfing the web as I was pondering when I happened upon the pic below of Emmy Rossum and Zach Braff at “The Darker Side of Green” Debate and I couldn’t help but notice Emmy’s scarlet dress and matching nails. It got me thinking about the whole matchy-matchy thing.
Typically, if I plan my outfit, I tend to wear polish colors to compliment, not match, though most days I’m running around with something that just plain clashes. I’ve noticed that a lot of celebs tend to go neutral or play the matching game and even in my area I see a lot of nude, French or matching nails. So am I alone in my ways?
What about you? When you plan out an ensemble do you tend to choose a nail color that matches or coordinates with your outfit? Or do you go the nude/sheer route?
Essie Resort Collection Swatches, Review & Comparisons
Last summer’s North Fork Collection from Essie was such a stellar sellout success that it’s no wonder she’s releasing the tropical themed Resort Collection that includes a new green and blue for us to drool over.
I have to say, Essie’s colors are starting to win my heart again. She’s introducing more “me” shades and I LOVE it. Granted the Art of Spring wasn’t my style but she has a pretty large fan base to please. I mean I get that she’s known for stunning reds, sheers and neutrals but I’m just not that kind of girl. I guess in NYC speak my nail flavor is more “downtown” than “uptown” so when Essie creates colors like Turquoise & Caicos and Lapis of Luxury, I’m ALL IN! Check them out after the jump! |
SpaRitual Believe Giveaway Winner
Congrats to Michelle L, the winner of ALU’s SpaRitual Believe Giveaway. Michelle has won a set of the Believe Collection nail polishes and a bottle of Multi-Tasker & Topcoat in One. Michelle’s comment was selected at random thanks to Random.org
What nail polish color best expresses who Michelle is? Why?
I’d have to say blue or green or any combination of the 2. Colors that are usually calm & serene for the most part, but with shades that can kick it up a notch & surprise the heck out of you, dancing a bit on the wild side. LOL!
A girl after my own heart! Enjoy the polishes Michelle!
Thanks to everyone who entered. I enjoyed reading all your responses. I have some creative and unique Fanatics. Love you all!
Special thanks for SpaRitual for providing such a fun giveaway. Make sure you enter the What Do You Believe? Sweepstakes happening on YouTube for another chance to win some SpaRitual goodies including $500 in SpaRitual products.
Zoya Ivanka Wear Test
The vast majority of you raved when I posted the Zoya Sparkle collection (shipping April 1st) but a small minority of you expressed concern about chipping and quality of wear with Zoya’s formula. This is not the first time I’ve heard this. In fact my salon told me they stopped using Zoya because of this issue.
Personally, I’ve never had anything but fantastic wear from Zoya polish using either their Color Lock System or an outside brand of base & top coat. A long time ago I showed you a wear test using the Zoya system but I decided it was time for an update using non-Art of Beauty products.
